The Dating Game
Some people will stop at nothing to get what they think they want. Even if this means hurting others in the process. They are selfish and believe the world revolves around them and their desires. Know anyone like this? Unfortunately, they are all over the world hiding in plain sight. One man decided to be an arrogant prick and chose the wrong woman to mess with. It didn’t matter he was halfway across the world. She would stop at nothing to seek revenge.
Most people know the years of the 20s are very crucial to a person becoming themselves. Dating during this time can be difficult, to say the least. It is hard to know what someone wants at this age. However, some young people think they can avoid all the confusion by dating someone older, sometimes much older, than them.
This was the trap ‘Gina’ got caught in. Although she was smitten at first, the wind quickly shifted and she knew something was off. And nothing was going to come between her and getting revenge for what this older man did to her.

A Great Catch
She was 24 at the time. This was over a decade ago and she still remembers every detail as if it was yesterday. She met him on a poetry platform. It was online and they connected through the poetry he put on the site. She was completely enamored with him. No one else on the poetry site seemed to like ‘Jake’ because he was “very aloof and stern on his comments,” but he didn’t immediately send mixed signals to her or create an uncomfortable environment.
She was pleasantly surprised to have found such a great catch. He was 42, “recently divorced, and had a kid he would see on the weekends.” She didn’t mind any of it as long as he was a good guy. We all know how men in their early 20s can be like! She must have felt like she was dodging a bullet.
Things got fairly serious pretty quickly. Gina felt like she could see what Jake was thinking. She also felt like she could trust him. She hadn’t known she was interested right away. It had been a gradual feeling. But he was saying all of the right words and doing all of the right things, so she melted. She thought he was “funny, handsome and really sweet underneath all his bravado.” He was everything she wanted.
They were messaging constantly online and getting to know each other very well. Or so she thought.
It seemed like a fairy tale with how it began. And for reference, the two of them were in different countries! Their love was long-distance, but she was happy with it. She had real feelings for this man. It is too bad he thought he was too smart to be caught in his lies.

Something Smells Fishy
They chatted online for months. They would be up all night in their respective time zones, just to spend as much time with each other as they could. It was like a dream come true as if it had been written right out of one of the poems they shared.
When Jake finally admitted his deep feelings for Gina, she was giddy. She told him she had gotten out of a relationship rather recently and had been heartbroken. Jake promised never to lie to her because he himself had also experienced deceit in his relationship with his ex-wife.
Gina felt for him, cheating was a terrible thing, and she assured him she was in this for the long haul.
Being in two different countries made the relationship difficult. But Gina felt like it was true love, and she would do anything she needed to for their love to flourish.
It was two years before they were able to see each other. Both of them had full-time jobs, and Jake especially could not get away from his for any length of time. Finally, Gina made the decision to surprise him and buy tickets to see him. She said, “it felt like a dream.” He picked her up from the airport and it was like a scene from a movie when they hugged and kissed. She would have never in a million years suspected something was wrong. Not until her trip didn’t go as planned.
Jake took Gina to his beach house and this was where she would be staying while she was visiting. However, Jake wasn’t staying with her. He told her the beach house was a terrific option so she could explore and have fun and be close to everything there was to see. He told her since the trip was a surprise, he wasn’t able to get time off to spend with her but would come as often as he could.
Something wasn’t right here. But Gina was too in love to notice the suspicious circumstances. She was there for a week. Jake only stayed the night once. He would still come over to hang out or go into the town with her, but they would eventually just get back to the beach house, do some adult things, and then he would take his leave.
Gina kicks herself for how dumb she was. How could she not have realized what was really going on here? She wanted things to be perfect so badly, she ignored the signs of the truth.
At this point, would you have known what was going on?

The Truth Will Out
On the last day before she was going to leave Jake planned a special dinner. Gina was going to meet his six-year-old son and his sister. She was ecstatic! She thought this was a great next step in their relationship. When they got to the restaurant, however, Jake introduced her as “his friend” who was visiting as a tourist. Gina was surprised and a bit disappointed. Why would he say she was a friend? Who was she to him?
The dinner went smoothly despite the strange beginning. “His sister was super sweet albeit a bit awkward and his son was adorable.” Overall the dinner was fine, nothing too alarming happened, but Gina couldn’t shake the feeling she was missing something.
The next day Jake took her to the airport and they said their goodbyes. She went back to her home and tried to adjust back to normal life. After the whirlwind of her trip, it was difficult to settle down.
It was only two days since she had left when everything came crashing down around her. All because of an email sent from Jake’s sister, ‘Dana.’
The email read: “Dear Gina, I know you might think I was weird and maybe a bit rude when we met but it was only because I was tricked by J to join the dinner with his kid. He never mentioned you guys were dating but after confronting Jake, he confessed and begged not to tell anyone or his marriage will be ruined. But you’re such a sweet and young girl who doesn’t deserve his deception. Jake IS STILL MARRIED AND NEVER LEFT THEIR HOME. Don’t take just my word for it.”
Attached to the email were pictures of Jake’s real internet profile. The pictures showed him and his smiling beautiful family.
Gina was devastated and in shock. How could she have been so fooled? She spent the evening drinking and crying, trying to process her heartbreak. She felt real love. She had put her heart on the line for a man who was a liar. This was worse than anything she could have ever imagined. She went to bed that night with a migraine and overwhelming sadness.
“But, the heartbreak lasted about 12 hours.” She was up early and ready to plot her revenge. There was no way this man would be getting away with his lies. He was not worth a broken heart and deserved a taste of the pain he had caused.

The Ultimate Revenge
Imagine falling in love with someone, over the internet based on their beautiful poems, then starting a romance with them only to realize they were deceiving you the entire time. For years. Gina was not going to let this go until she had destroyed him. He had hurt her, but she knew she was not the only one affected by his mistake. His sister, his son, and of course his unknowing wife were all victims a well. It was time for justice.
Gina didn’t have the luxury of living close to Jake, so she couldn’t do the typical things a scorned woman might do. She couldn’t tell his family in person, she couldn’t egg his car, or slash his tires. However, she knew how to access his online accounts including his social media profiles and his emails. After two years of getting to know a person, you know what their passwords would be or at least the answers to their security questions. She was in. She was shocked. Jake had not only been dating her, but he was also with two other women and still married to his poor wife.
Gina was getting more upset by the minute. She discovered his work email was connected to his personal email. She had access to his entire life at her fingertips. And she was ready to cause chaos. Disclaimer, Gina says she knows how ridiculous her actions were and she may have gone too far. She says at the moment her anger was the only thing controlling her.
The first thing she did was change Jake’s passwords to IMAPRICK. I support this all the way. But then she started to go through with her vengeful plan.
She had discovered intimate pictures and intimate emails from the other women and of course herself. She “crafted a very lengthy and explicit email with pictures and chat logs attached confessing to Jake’s wife.” She typed it out as if she was Jake as if he was “begging for forgiveness” and confessing to everything. However, she added a twist. Gina wrote Jake was only doing all of this because he truly loved men and had been hiding his true feelings forever. She made it seem like he was revealing his secrets and bearing all, as if to finally be free from his lies. Which was hilarious because he really had been lying all this time.
Gina wasn’t quite done though. She decided it wasn’t enough for just his wife to see the receipts of his infidelity. Gina “copied his entire list of contacts, including the CEO and partners of the company he worked, his parents and Dana of course.”
She changed his profile pictures to reflect his new love interest in men. She also signed him up for dating sites with his email and pictures.
She had thought of everything. And just when she thought she was done, she saw one of Jake’s old college friends, ‘Tony’ had reached out and declared his love for Jake. Since Gina had changed all of his passwords, Jake had no access to his accounts and she had full control. She was already concocting another plan.

Justice
Within a week, Jake’s life blew up. His family and friends were in an uproar. And due to the publicity and his rank in the company, he was fired. He had lost his job and everyone was so confused. Jake didn’t know what to do so he set up an event for everyone so he could set the record straight. What he didn’t know was Gina knew exactly what he was planning, and she had already figured out how to ruin it.
She emailed Tony, still pretending to be Jake, and asked him to meet at his house and bring fun things, if you know what I mean. Wink Wink.
And so there Jake was, in front of his family and friends, trying to explain what had happened, even though he had no idea who could have done this to him. And in walked Tony with a bag full of goodies and a smile which quickly left his face
Chaos ensued with arguments and fights, and no one was believing Jake. Gina was happy with the outcome of her revenge. She had blocked him on almost all her accounts and tried to forget about him. She was doing pretty well until Jake randomly tried to get a hold of her through an account she hadn’t thought to block him. It had been nearly a decade since everything had happened. She was surprised he would contact her. His message was asking why she hadn’t supported him when his life fell apart. He had no idea it had been her doing.
Gina never felt as good as when she sent her reply of: “Sorry Jake, but I think everything you got, was Karma for all the lies and time wasted. Good luck. Oh and by the way. IT WAS ALWAYS ME.”
She relished in the fact he had gotten what he deserved. Even if it had been a bit much. Even though he tried to find ways to contact her, he was unsuccessful and she could sleep knowing she had gotten justice.
She knew he had found a new job, started his own company with his wealthy parents’ help. He wasn’t too bad off in the end, just humiliated. And she even became friends with Tony after admitting it had been her the whole time and apologizing for any hurt she may have caused him.
However, I am left wondering if this was still too much? Or if anyone else thinks this is exactly what he had coming for him. What do you think? How would you handle a cheating liar scumbag? Was Gina in the right for what she did?
