9 Heatless Ways To Curl Your Hair

By Minq Team

Put down those curling irons, ladies! If you want healthy, luscious hair, using a lot of heat is not the way to go. But don't worry, you can still have beautiful curls. Here are a few ways to curl or wave your hair without frying it with the blow-dryer, curling iron, or wand.

Headband

I know, this method sounds rather strange, but it works. Place a stretchy headband around your forehead, hippie style. Take sections of damp hair and wrap them around the headband and secure. Sleep on it and unwrap in the morning. Give your hair a good shake and voila, big, loose waves!

Mousse

To get natural, loose curls, all you need is some water and mousse. Start with dry hair, and then wet only the bottom half of it’s length. Put put mousse in the damp part and comb to distribute it, and then put the damp and moussed hair into a bun. After a couple of hours, let it down and enjoy your loose waves!

Bobby Pins

For sexy spiral curls, all you need is an arsenal of bobby pins and some time. Get your hair wet, then create the curls yourself by folding portions of your hair into your scalp and then pinning them down with bobby pins. You can either wait a couple hours for the look to be ready or sleep with a shower cap on to wake up with beautiful curls.

Little Buns

Take a lesson from Miley and go with little buns all over your head. This style is great for days when you are working around the house, since you probably won’t want to go outside. Dampen your hair and twist 2-inch sections into little buns and secure with an elastic. Just before you leave for your big night, blast the buns with cool air and undo them. Shake them out and you’re ready to go.

Old T-Shirt

Don’t toss that raggedy old t-shirt! Use it to create beautiful curls. Cut the shirt into strips. The thinner the strips are, the tighter the curls will be. Roll damp hair around each strip then tie the ends so they stay in place. Wait for hair to dry and remove the strips. Work in a little anti-frizz serum and you’re good to go.

Braids

Braids are a timeless way to get beachy waves, plus you have so much power in choosing exactly how you want your waves. If your just want to give a little volume and movement to the bottom half, loosely do a side braid. If you want all over waves, French braid your hair in pigtails, starting from your part. The smaller the braids are, the tighter the waves will be.

Soft Curlers

Some people are absolutely obsessed with soft curlers and swear by them as the perfect way to get flawless curls. There are two ways to use them. At night, wrap hair around curlers, secure, and go to bed. When you wake up unravel and marvel at your voluminous hair. Or, in the morning wrap towel-dried hair in big curlers and go along with your normal morning routine. When your hair is dry, blast with cool air and unwrap.

Tube Sock

Don’t toss your holey socks just yet! Use them to create loose vintage waves. But of course, wash the socks first (ew). Cut off the toe part of the sock and thread your ponytail through. Roll your hair around the sock, until you have reached the end of the ponytail. Secure and wait for hair to dry. Remove the sock and fall in love your luscious locks.

Clips

This might be the most time consuming method, but it does create beautiful structured curls. Dampen hair and take 1 to 2 inch sections, depending on how tight you want your curls. Twist each section around your finger and secure to your head with a clip or pin. You will end up with a full head of clips. When hair is dry, take the clips down and unravel the hair. This is an old school method, but it really does mimic the ability of a curling iron.
