17 Cleverly Cute DIY Beauty Storage Hacks

By Minq Team
Jacob Lund

We love to use our makeup, jewelry, and hair-styling tools to help us feel beautiful, yet sometimes the way we store them looks anything but. If you're not all that crafty and don't have a ton of money to spend on high-end makeup storage containers, then these super-simple DIY projects are just what you need to get your beauty life in order.

Brush Away Clutter

Pick a container of your choice, fill with a supporting substance (pebbles, sand, rice, etc.) and voila! Have fun and get creative with it! Label different jars for face and eye brushes, add paint or glitter or ribbon. The possibilities are endless!

Magnetizing Beauty

This DIY board is such a clever and chic way to store your makeup. Simply cover a baking sheet in the fabric of your choice, frame if desired, and glue magnets onto the back of your products. Bonus: add small cups to hold brushes, eyeliners, mascara, etc.

Rustic Chic

You’re already putting your to-go salads and refreshing summer drinks in these handy and cute vessels, so why not use them to organize your beauty products? Keep it simple and chic or add some flair, whatever suits your style!

Hang It Up

If you’re running out of precious counter space to hold those adorable storage jars you’ve created, try hanging them on the wall instead.

Perfect Fit

Those various shapes of Styrofoam at your local craft store aren’t just for fake flower arrangements, they also work great to organize your makeup! Paint, glue, and decorate to your heart’s content! Finally, no more digging around in drawers for just the right shade of gloss because now it’s all at your fingertips!

Wax On, Wax Off

We’re all guilty of hoarding candles, but now you can rest your troubled mind by cleverly reusing them! Simply clean out the excess wax by melting it off in a shallow pot of hot water, clean thoroughly, and glue together to make this cute and practical makeup organizer.

All Jarred Up

Another method for reusing those old candle jars is to make them into adorable containers perfect for storing cotton balls, Q-tips, hair ties, etc. Simply glue a cabinet knob (or small decoration of your choice) onto the lid and you’re good to go.

Double Duty

Those candle jars are just so handy — good thing you have so many! You can also use them to store all of your brushes by filling them with colored Epsom salt. Bonus: add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the salt to have it double as potpourri!

Recycle-nista

If you want a super cute way to organize your beauty products while staying super-friendly to the environment at the same time, then this is the DIY project for you! Color your plastic bottles (if desired), carefully cut off the top, and use your clothes iron to seal the edges.

So Cheap, So Chic

This easy to make tower looks oh so elegant considering it was made with products from your local dollar store! Use cheap glasses to separate the tiers and top with various plates, bowls, and dishes to complete each tier. Bonus: Try segmented trays to take your organization skills to the next level!

Chill Out

Now that practically every refrigerator comes equipped with an ice maker, we’re sure you have a few of these hanging around the house. Put them back to good use by using them to store your small jewelry!

Uncorked

To keep your long necklaces from tangling, try creating this stylish cork board to store them. Cover in fabric or use stencils to paint on fun designs, and simply add little hooks. This also works great to store bracelets or long, dangling earrings.

Daydreamer

For a whimsical way to store all those fun, dangling earrings try using a dream catcher or two (or ten, we don’t judge). Not only is it practical, but you’ll also be adding some fun flair to your space.

Detangle Your Life

This fun and cute project is another great way to display your necklaces while keeping them detangled at the same time. Keep it clean with a nicely painted piece of wood and matching knobs or go a little more eclectic by distressing the paint and adding a variety of knobs.

Sort It Out

Hair styling tools can be some of the hardest beauty products to keep organized. This genius DIY is the solution to your problems! Use various sized PVC pipes and attach to a wood base. Style as desired (printed duct tape was used here).

Pipe Dreams

If you rent and you can’t drill holes in your wall, try using a larger PVC pipe to hold that hair dryer! Paint and decorate to your heart’s content and you’re good to go! The small pipe is great for holding a hair brush or flat iron.

We’re Hooked

If you’re the type that prefers to keep things out of sight then this is your styling tools storage solution. Attach hooks onto the inside of your cabinet to neatly store your hot tools while keeping your space looking Zen. You’ll also never have to worry if you left your flat iron on!
