10 Health Mistakes To Avoid

By Minq Team

It can be hard to eat a balanced meal and exercise every day. But many of us make these health mistakes every day without realizing it. Some of these have long-term effects...

Not Enough Protein

Skimping in protein is bad news for your body. Protein helps build lean muscle, makes you mentally strong, and controls your appetite and blood sugar levels. Focus on getting your full amount of protein each day. You will be pleasantly surprised at how good you feel. Go for lean meats and fish or chia seeds, soy, and quinoa if you don’t eat meat.

Thinking All Fats Are Bad

Eating fat doesn’t necessarily make you fat, and some fats are necessary for a healthy body. That doesn’t mean you can eat a donut for every meal. Go for healthy fats like nuts, avocado, coconut, olives, and nut butters. These are better alternatives than animal fats and heated plant fats.

Avoiding All Carbs

Carbs are not the devil, contrary to what many trendy diets are saying. The problem is when you eat way too many carbs. But getting rid of all carbs can lead to overeating, fatigue, and depression. Instead of filling up on bread and crackers, go for fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and whole grains. Just remember to eat carbs in moderation.

Skipping The Vitamins

Just like when you were a kid, it is important to take a multivitamin every day. It helps your metabolism, digestion, and overall health. You might have to throw in a few extra bucks on a good brand that contains 100% of the daily nutrients you need, but it is worth it.

Over-Exercising

Hitting the gym every day for a few hours isn’t doing your body any good. It’s good to keep your body active, but overdoing causes food cravings, anxiety, fatigue, injury, and nutritional deficiencies. Unless you are a professional athlete, one hour a day is great! It’s okay to take days off too. Your body needs time to heal.

Not Exercising Enough

You don’t want to overwork your body, but not working it at all is worse. You don’t have to run a mile or hit the gym every day. Just 30 minutes of aerobic activity is all you need to keep yourself healthy. Try walking, jogging, swimming, biking, yoga, or Pilates. Your possibilities are endless.

Not Eating Raw Foods

Fruits, veggies, beans, whole grains, and nuts need to be a part of your daily diet. Refined, fried, and fast foods do not count. Raw, whole foods offer tons of nutrients while keeping you full and giving you energy.

Not Drinking Enough Water

Water is one of the most important things for a healthy body and it is often overlooked. Staying hydrated is good for your metabolism, appetite, mood, energy level, and mental health. Opt for pure water without sugary additives.

Not Sleeping Enough

Second to water, is sleep. If you don’t give yourself enough time to rest, relax, rejuvenate, and restore your nutrients, you will not feel well. A constant lack of sleep can lead to obesity, depression, moodiness, as well as physical symptoms. Try to average around 7 to 8 hours a night.

Too Much Alcohol

This is a very obvious mistake. It is perfectly alright to relax after a hard day with a glass of wine, celebrate a big accomplishment with champagne, or enjoy a few drinks with your girls. But when it becomes too much your body does not know how to deal with the toxins and it sarts to shut down. Always remember to drink in moderation.
