Last week, singer-actress Jessica Simpson posted photos on her Instagram account of her 7-year-old daughter’s freshly dyed hair. The first picture shows off Maxwell’s dip-dyed waves of pink and purple as she smiles at the camera. According to the caption, she was inspired by a violet-haired character on the TV show “The Descendants”.
However, not everyone is behind this new look.
A good number of Instagram moms crawled out of the woodwork to attack Simpson in the comments of the post, calling out the star for allowing her daughter to dye her hair. Criticisms include that “she is too young for that” and that it will damage the kid’s hair and “ruin her childhood”.
Fortunately, several other commenters flooded in to the rescue, praising the mom for allowing her daughter to express her individuality and complementing the kid’s new “mermaid hair”. Many sided with Simpson, testifying that they’ve allowed their own kids to dye their hair and that it is all in good, harmless fun.
Pop-rock singer Pink has also displayed her support of Simpson’s parenting. She too has felt the sting of mom-shaming on social media, which inspired her expression of solidarity with her fellow celebrity by dying her 8-year-old daughter’s hair blue.
“#parentpoliceareactuallyjustlonelysadpeople” she typed as a hashtag in her post’s caption.
What do you think? Were these mom-shamers justified, or should they just mind their own business? Let us know in the comments!
