The Morel Court Care Home did their best to ensure their residents enjoyed the snow.
The residents of Morel Court Care Home had a great surprise in store for them!
The residents of Morel Court Care Home were caught in the middle of a nasty snow storm, so instead of having to sit around cooped up inside all day, the employees of the senior home decided to let the residents relive their childhood.
Wales Online reported that employees actually brought some snow into the home so that the residents could build their own snowmen! The residents were given different things to accent their snowmen with like carrots and paper cups for hats. Hayley Lawrence, the deputy manager for the Morel Court Care Home, came up with the idea. The manager, Suzanne Taplin, told the publication, “The residents were absolutely thrilled. I think pretty much all 36 of them had a go at making a snowman — even our oldest resident, who’s 105. They were literally crying with laughter from doing it. From what the staff have told me, it probably created the most smiles and laughs of any activity we’ve done.”
They also reported that several of the employees stuck around throughout the blizzard so that the residents were cared for. Taplin told Wales Online, “We weren’t at full staff as some people, including myself, couldn’t make it in, so everybody had a go at doing everything. The residents didn’t notice and had the time of their lives.”
The Morel Court Care Home posted an album of photos on their Facebook page, which was met with widespread attention and praise. To date, the post has earned nearly five thousand reactions, has been shared over seven thousand times, and has over one thousand comments on it.
Clearly, everybody thinks that Lawrence’s idea was a great one!
