An adventurous couple ditched their New York apartment to live their life on the road!
Most couples want to go on a warm-weathered honeymoon and then settle back into their living space together, right after getting married.
However, one adventurous couple had other plans…
They decided to reconstruct the interior of a van, turning it into their own home-on-the-go, and hit the road to travel the country.
PopSugar featured the traveling married couple, Lucas and Willa Via, to talk about their adventurous lifestyle.
The two of them have been married since August of 2016 and completely changed their lifestyle, exactly 1 year later.
In August of 2017, Lucas and Willa finalized their new home in the van and took off. Their first stop- Lake Shastina, California.
While the couple lives in the van, they are also able to work from the van.
This flexibility allows them to travel and discover new places in America that they may have never even thought of seeing before!
Most would assume that living life on the road, in that small of a space, sounds like a lot of time with your significant other. Well, Lucas and Willa had previously been living in Brooklyn, New York, so space wasn’t a new issue for them.
And to Willa, it means getting to really know your partner and appreciating the quality moments you have together.
“The more surprising part is how much we’re both clutching on to this time together as we both know van life can’t last forever.”
But at the end of the day, they’re still a couple and not every couple in the world agrees on everything.
The difference with them is that they have gotten to know each other on such a personal level, that they know how to handle disagreements.
“The likelihood that the two of us will agree on every single one is minimal at best. With so many choices, a disagreement is bound to arise. We’ve learned to embrace it and even goof around if things get tense.”
Traveling with a partner for life is what makes their journey that much more special. Especially considering all of the hard work they put into creating the home inside of the van, they’re growing not only in their relationship but in life.
“We know that we’re on a once-in-a-lifetime journey together, and we’re there to remind each other of that.”
The couple is documenting their time on the road on their Instagram account @viathevan. It’s definitely worth following, especially if you’re a travel junkie or just want to stay updated on the sights they’re seeing!
