It seems as if a lot of people on social media, are getting their brows 'picture-perfect with eyebrow microblading. But what exactly is eyebrow mircoblading?
So There’s This Trend Called Eyebrow Microblading: What Is It Actually?
Eyebrow Microblading is a popular semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing treatment that fills in sparse eyebrows. This process involves a hand-held tool, similar to an exacto-knife to be used on the eyebrow. But don’t flinch! The technician will very carefully and precisely use this ‘exacto-knife’ tool that also contains needles to apply pigments that manipulate additional hairs. To create the eyebrows, the technicians use ‘hair-like’ strokes to mimic the natural hairs in your eyebrows. The purpose of the final results is to make sure the brows look very natural, as the hairs are bladed into the skin according to the natural hair growth direction.
What Is The Process Like?
1. Outline
First the technician will draw a brow shape as an outline. They do this to map out for the client if they are happy with the certain shape.
2. Numbing Up
The next step is the numbing cream that is used on the eyebrows, before the last stage of the process. It is recommended to bring photos of ‘brow inspiration’ to show the artist.
3. Drawn On
Then the brows will be drawn on and the finished results will soon be revealed! The entire process will take about 2 hours.
4. Post Op
You are allowed to use a healing oil, such as Aquaphor. But just remember to avoid getting your face wet, as it takes about 10 days to heal. As long as the process is handled with quality care, the finished microbladed eyebrows should fade about 40% to look beautiful and completely natural.
Is It Really Worth The Cost?
The first visit to get microblading done, will cost you anywhere between $300 and $800, while some at more upscale salons may cost up to $2,000. YIKES! Right? After a month of getting the brows done and the last touch-up will be the FINAL Results (6-8 weeks after). But, luckily, the brows will usually last for over a year. You are allowed to wear makeup on your brows about 2 weeks after the first visit. If the expensive price tag scares you away, you can always check specials/deals online such as Groupon.com.
