To British designer Stella McCartney, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is something deeply personal. McCartney’s mother, Linda Louise McCarney died at the age of 56 following a 3 year battle against breast cancer.
In honor of her mother, Stella designed the “Louise Listening Bra”, which, McCartney told Telegraph, is meant “to bring something feminine and beautiful into a bra that is taboo.” This post-double mastectomy bra is designed to be both comfortable and ultra-feminine. The idea is to send the message to women who have undergone double mastectomies that they still have something to be proud of: they still have their femininity, sensuality, and everything attached to being a woman and being beautiful both inside and out.
The bra comes with a front zip and offers support via a thick and soft elastic under-band which also helps with compression and speeds healing.
If you weren’t already in awe by McCartney, her beautiful spirit, and this gorgeous bra for breast cancer survivors, you surely will be upon learning that all proceeds from this year’s sale of the “Louise Listening Bra” will go to the Hello Beautiful Foundation, which helps women overcome the struggles and stigmas of breast cancer.
The bra can be preordered at stellamccartney.com and retails for about $132.
