Welcome to 2017: The year of colorful hair styles, strange swimsuits, and now Pizza shoes!
Yes, pizza lovers, 3D pizza-themed shoes are a thing now and we can thank Adidas for making it happen.
In a collaboration with Refinery 29, Adidas has brought on the creative efforts of 10 different artistic women to create a shoe design they feel correlates with each of the 50 states in the U.S.
Designers were able to incorporate items such as clay, fake flowers, beads, and more as design elements while using the white canvas of the Adidas UltraBOOST X.
When it came to the actual design themes, some artists went with a more food-themed design, while others stuck to a more atmospheric ambiance of colors with certain state shoes.
Jen Mussari is the mastermind behind the pizza-themed shoes to represent the great state of New Jersey. The bright pizza colors and 3-dimensional pieces of pepperoni look amazing with the casual slice of pizza, on the outer side of the shoe.
And no, this shoe is not edible! But, the design has definitely got us craving some actual pizza for dinner later.
Food-Spiration With Shoes?
Along with Jen, another artist named Lizzie Darden also created some incredible food-inspired shoes. One design was for the state of Wisconsin, so naturally, she chose to make her shoes, cheese-based. She also created another shoe for the state of Maine that included an amazing 3D lobster claw with a pink colored canvas.
The talent here is just incredible! All of the shoes are so interesting to look at, even if they do make us a bit hungry. But unfortunately, the 50 states of shoes will not be mass produced.
The limited edition collection was recently auctioned off online.
Yes, we’re all sad that we couldn’t take part in trying to get the iconic pizza shoes too! But while the chance to get access to the shoes of the States is no longer available, there is something to smile about!
After all of the shoes were auctioned, all of the proceeds went towards an organization called Women Win. Women Win is a global charity that strives to progress gender equality and encourages female rights, through sport.
So having an athletic shoe company and female artists, working with this sport-based organization that values women empowerment, is pretty perfect!
