The 2016 Oscars took place Sunday night and while we were all patiently awaiting an Oscar for Leonardo DiCaprio, we first had to marvel at the looks that came across the red carpet this year. While many dresses were absolutely stunning, others simply missed the mark. Who do you think had the best and worst dresses this year?!
Best Dressed: Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde rocked a Valentino Haute Couture dress that showed off a plunging neckline and an even more dramatic back. She accompanied the dress with a large choker that definitely made the look stand out even more.
Worst Dressed: Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum's purple ombre dress missed the mark on the red carpet this year. While the dramatic cut looked interesting, the overuse of tulle, a random long sleeve and oversized flowers were just not doing it for this Marchesa gown.
Best Dressed: Saoirse Ronan

We loved Saoirse Ronan's Ireland-inspired dress. The green sequined dress, which was custom-made by Calvin Klein, accentuated the actress's features and highlighted her beautiful eyes.
Worst Dressed: Amy Poehler

We love Amy Poehler and the fashion risk she took with this Andrew Gn, but the oversized cape over-took her body and the floral print was not a fan favorite.
Best Dressed: Alicia Vikander

Alicia Vikander looked like a Disney princess in her Belle look alike dress. Her yellow custom Louis Vuitton dress looked fabulous and we especially loved the silver embellishments and bubble skirt.
Worst Dressed: Kate Winslet

While Kate Winslet's Ralph Lauren dress definitely caught eyes as soon as she stepped onto the red carpet, we're not sure it was for the best choice. The material gave off a garbage bag feel that we just weren't into.
Best Dressed: Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen looked fabulous in a sheer Marchesa dress. The dress hugged her curves and showed off her baby bump. Plus, the red pattern was to die for.
Worst Dressed: Sandy Powell

Pant suits can look fabulous on the red carpet, but Sandy Powell's wide-leg patterned suit just missed the mark.
Best Dressed: Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga's pantsuit on the other hand absolutely slayed the red carpet. The pantsuit was made by her friend Brandon Maxwell and we're in love with it.
Worst Dressed: Jacqueline West

The fit of Jacqueline West's Ralph Lauren dress just overwhelmed her. And we're not sure the showing slip is a good look either.
Best Dressed: Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts's Armani dress was one of our favorites. The deep purple and blue colors were stunning and the detail just took it to a whole new level.
Worst Dressed: Jennifer Jason Leigh

Jennifer Jason Leigh's Marchesa dress wasn't one of the best at this year's Oscars. The light pink dress had awkwardly placed flowers and even more awkward ruffles.
Best Dressed: Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron's Dior dress was by far our favorite on the Oscars red carpet this year. The plunging neckline and bold red gave off a sexy feel that radiated through Theron.
Worst Dressed: Sofia Vergara

Although it seems Sofia Vergara looks fabulous in just about anything, this Marchesa dress is the same silhouette she always wears. Where's the risk and new look Sofia?!
Best Dressed: Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence's Dior dress was another that definitely stole the show. We couldn't help but think of "The Mockingjay" with the dress's sheer underlay and black ruffled lace petticoat.
Worst Dressed: Mindy Kaling

Many people seemed to think this was the best Mindy Kaling has looked, but we're just not seeing it. While she rocked the off-the-shoulder look, the ginormous train of her Elizabeth Kennedy dress was just unnecessary.
Best Dressed: Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams's long train, however, did steal the show. The dark green silk dress, by August Getty Atelier, had low cut sides and a thigh-high slit that looked fabulous on McAdams.
Worst Dressed: Cate Blanchett

Many people seemed to love Cate Blanchett's Armani gown, but we just weren't on board. The overwhelming number of 3D flowers were just too much for this dress.
Best Dressed: Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra's Zuhair Murad gown was absolutely gorgeous. The bridal-like gown rocked a contrast of sheer, white and edgy designs. We love this one!
Worst Dressed: Sophie Turner

While the grey-ish color of the dress matched her eyes perfectly, Sophie Turner's dress was a bit of a snooze fest. The simple dress made by Galvan was boring and almost washed the actress out.
