As part of its “Close The Loop” recycling campaign, H&M has done something it’s never done before. The message behind “Close The Loop” is for people to bring in their old clothes to H&M to be reused and recycled. H&M wants to support environmentally practices in an industry that is known for being very extravagant and wasteful.
One of the “Close the Loop” ads featured Mariah Idrissi, H&M’s first hijab-wearing Muslim model. We love Idrissi’s look in the commercial as she rocks a big jacket and even bigger sunglasses. Her look is paired with a patterned hijab to represent her Muslim decent. Women who wear a hijab haven’t been represented in the fashion industry, but that doesn’t mean their style shouldn’t be recognized. The hijab is a staple for Muslim women and they really bring out a women’s beauty and style.
Mariah Idrissi also owns her own Moroccan-inspired salon in London where she specializes in henna designs. What a fierce human being, inside and out!
