Olympic Luge Athlete Tristan Walker Shows You His Point Of View, It’s As Terrifying As You Would Expect

By Zach Brown
February 9, 2022

Whether it’s ski jumping, alpine skiing, skiing/snowboarding big air, the skeleton, or plenty of others, there is no shortage of Winter Olympic events that leave the viewer thinking, “You couldn’t pay me any amount of money to try that.” I don’t think this thought would apply to any event more than the luge.

From the comfort of our homes, the luge looks like the equivalent of sledding at an average speed of 80 miles per hour down a frozen hot wheels track. Personally, I find watching this event anxiety-inducing enough just sitting on my couch.

Lucky for us, Canadian Olympic Athlete, Tristan Walker, posted a point-of-view video of himself flying down a luge track at full speed on his personal TikTok page to confirm it looks even more terrifying in person than it does on tv.

That’s A No For Me

One commenter said, “I mean how hard could it be you just lay there,” because no one on the internet can be impressed by anything.

Another, more realistic, commenter asked, “Do you steer it when you’re going, or is it more of a prayer thing?”

Tristan responded, “I drive with my legs and feet. It’s pretty subtle but you can see it.”

This prompted me to watch the video a second time and sure enough, you can see him making slight adjustments with his legs and feet as he’s speeding down the track.

One very relatable commenter said, “I slow myself down on water slides so it’s a no from me.”

Same.

What is the last Olympic event you would ever consider trying and why is it obviously the luge? Let us know in the comments!
