Recently, the Kardashian sisters and their mother sat with Variety to promote their new reality TV show, ‘The Kardashians’, where they also spoke about other topics, one being: women in business.
Being the reality tv stars they are, they didn’t hold back on their real thoughts behind the topic. Especially not Kim.
Here’s a snippet of Kim’s response via tweet.
Once the interview posted online, Kim K faced major backlash from the public. Many shared the same opinion which was: Who the heck is Kim Kardashian to give out advice on working?!
One person commented on the video, “Most of the world’s adult population work as hard or even harder than Kim. So telling people to get off your [butt] and do the work is insanely ignorant. Kim makes more money from ONE Instagram photo than a nurse working 12-hour shifts every day for 20 years straight.”
What she thought would be encouraging words to women across the world, was instead a smack in the face.
Another person wrote, “She literally has a nanny who takes care of her kids 80 percent of the time, a chef who cooks for her, and a maid who cleans for her! She gets everything done for her while middle-class women do all of that by ourselves. And for her to tell people to get up and work. Really Kim?! You get up and do what normal people do in a day!”
There were endless comments about her being privileged, tone-deaf, entitled, and just plain “lucky.” She grew up in a rich family so that definitely gave her more of a head start in her career/ life than many other working women. Not to discredit her own struggles, however, I imagine they are a lot different from people whose net worth isn’t over a billion dollars.
It’s not the advice people have an issue with, but more with who the advice is coming from. Maybe if it came from someone else, we would take it more seriously?
