Setting Up The Story
When working in retail, one is bound to meet an interesting array of customers. Some are fantastic, and can greatly improve their day. Some, not so much. Unfortunately, the latter happens way more than it should; certain customers don’t think retail workers are humans too, and treat them as such. One Redditor named “Zoey” was faced with a situation like this.
When a regular customer, “Toby,” started getting a little too close for Zoey’s comfort, she automatically told her boss, “Zack,” about him. After Zack brushed off her concerns, Zoey knew she had to get revenge on him for downplaying the severity of the situation, and especially the reason why he did not seem to care. Luckily for her, the perfect opportunity presented itself.

When Toby Went Too Far
All in all, Zoey considered herself to be quite lucky. She had a great job she enjoyed at a local store and got to interact with some wonderful customers daily. Unfortunately, that also meant she had to see Toby.
“He was a pervert who would just come in to harass me,” Zoey recalled. “He would lean over the counter to stroke my arms, make disgusting derogatory comments towards me and try to feel me up any time I left the counter.”
Fed up with this disgusting behavior, Zoey reported Toby’s disturbing actions to Zack. However, no actions were ever taken. For the next few weeks, Zoey was continuously subjected to Toby’s unwanted advances.
Zoey kept her cool during all of this, which is impressive considering this isn’t something anyone should have to deal with. However, everything came to a screeching halt when Toby took it too far.
As soon as Toby came into the store one day, he immediately starting saying extremely inappropriate things to Zoey, and even went so far as to try to grab her chest.
Like a kettle that’s been on too long, Zoey exploded on this pathetic excuse of a man. She screamed at him to get out of the store and yelled that she would call the police. Toby, however, didn’t seem to care, and actually laughed because Zoey had no proof of his despicable behavior.
That is until Zoey pointed out one detail Toby seemed to have missed.

Zoey Tried To Get Help
Mounted on the wall right behind the counter was a security camera, perfectly positioned to capture every disturbing interaction between Toby and Zoey.
Enraged his debauched behavior had been caught on camera, Toby launched into a terrifying tirade. Toby told Zoey how “he knew [she] lived in the area, so if he finds [her, she] would end up in a hospital because of the things he would do.”
After the maniac left the store, Zoey was terrified, and rightfully so. Toby was in the military, and could easily overtake her. To make matters worse, Toby continued to show up at the store with what appeared to a loaded weapon and even followed Zoey when she was running errands around town.
When Zoey came into work a few days later, she was ill at ease. She immediately sought out Zack and told him about the events that had transpired. Zoey desperately wanted to contact the police, and with the security camera footage as evidence, she knew she’d be able to get Toby arrested.
Zack, however, was singing a different tune. He told her she couldn’t call the police, and for the most baffling reason.

The Reason Why Zack Didn’t Help
“I’m so sorry, but I’m afraid you can’t do that,” Zack stated. “If you do then they will do a background check on you and I will have to tell them everything I know about you.”
If it was possible, Zoey was even more terrified. Zack was a close personal friend and knew she had issues at home. Issues, that if ever came to light, would cause irreparable damage to Zoey’s family.
However, Zack had another reason for not wanting to help Zoey – he was upset she had rejected him when he asked her out on a date months prior.
“See, I value you as a friend,” Zack explained. “But after seeing your true colors when you refused to go out with me kind of tells me to be honest to the police. Do you really want to involve them?”
Trying to keep her shock at bay, Zoey accepted this horrific answer as it was. It looked as if justice was going to go unserved, and Toby and Zack would get away with their disgusting behavior. Although, little did Zack know Zoey was out for blood.

The Opportunity Arose
Like most businesses, Zoey’s company had a yearly inspection. These inspections are crucial to making sure everything’s running smoothly, and the manager is fit in their position. The past few inspections had not been taken seriously because Zack was friends with the area manager doing the rounds. However, rumors had been swirling there would be a new area manager. Zoey wasn’t too sure if this was true until she walked into work one day and saw a man she did not recognize. So, the rumors were true; there was a new area manager, “Logan.”
Upon speaking with him, Zoey learned Logan did not like Zack one bit and was looking for a way to get him fired. Lucky for him, Zoey was all too happy to assist him in his mission.
“I made sure to mess up every chance I got,” Zoey said. “[I ‘forgot’ to scan] items, [I wasn’t] checking everyone’s IDs, [and I was] stocking things wrong.”
Logan was rightfully horrified and asked Zoey if Zack had ever bothered to give her proper training. Truth be told she wasn’t; Zack forged papers saying Zoey was properly trained but never bothered to show her the ropes. When Logan showed her the forms, she knew just how to back it up.

Zack Finally Gets What He Deserves
Thanks to a handy lesson from her dad, Zoey had been keeping a log of every single mistake Zack had made while she had been working there. It was kind of like the “Burn Book” from Mean Girls, but so much better. Logan was absolutely horrified as he leafed through the book, reading about how “[Zack] made [his employees] take over his shifts to leave early, how he never fulfilled requests for holidays and took them away last minute, and more, including how he never processed official complaints and would ‘persuade’ [them] not to report incidents.”
When Logan asked about what kind of incidents Zoey was referring to, she knew it was her golden opportunity. Finally, she would be to get the justice she was unfairly robbed of months ago.
Zoey felt as though a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders as she explained the situation with Toby, and how Zack refused to step in because Zoey romantically rejected him. With eyes as wide as saucers, Logan assured her Zack would be dealt with in a swift and professional manner.
When Zoey came into work a few days later, Zack was nowhere to be seen. Instead, a new manager stood in his place. When Zoey inquired about his whereabouts, she was informed Zack had been fired. However, it wasn’t just because of the incident with Zoey, but a whole other slew of issues; he had been “falsifying paperwork and falsifying his hours. He was [also] stealing money from the store.”
Thanks to Zoey’s incredibly detailed book, Logan was able to use it and bring down Zack once and for all. His mistreatment of staff and abuse of power finally caught up to him, and he was put in his place once and for all. In addition to giving Zack what he so rightfully deserved, Zoey also ended up moving away from the area, meaning she was no longer subjected to Toby’s unwanted behavior.
