Unfortunately, we're all getting older and while some makeup tricks can help us look a little more youthful, things can go drastically wrong in an instant. Keep reading to find out what mistakes you could be making and how to fix them.
You’re overdoing the powder application.

Powder can be the key to a flawless face or the detrimental factor to an older looking one. And that fine lines rests between the bags and wrinkles that get highlighted when you're using the wrong powder. Look for an HD powder that has micro-fine particles that won't highlight these lines.
You’re not using primer at all.

The goal of a primer is to create a blank slate for the rest of your makeup. Silicone primers will help smooth out your complexion and rid your face of shine. If you skip it all together, your lines and wrinkles may be a little more noticeable than with a primer.
Your hair is only one solid color.

While one solid color may have looked cute back in our teens, right now, our hair needs a little dimension. By adding a few brighter highlights around your face, your skin will appear more youthful.
You’re not exfoliating as often as you should be.

Have you been exfoliating at least twice a week? Doing so will not only get rid of bacteria and dead skin cells, but it will also promote the creation of healthy new cells.
You’re skimping out on the conditioner.

You can get away with not using conditioner a few times, but unfortunately older age comes with dull, dry hair. The properties in conditioner will help nourish your hair back to its youthful glow!
You’re relying too much on your lower liner.

Lower liner has always been our go-to and unfortunately, it's not the most age rewarding. The harsh black liner actually draws attention to crows feet! If you must use the lower liner, try a lighter shade.
You’re not sculpting and filling in your sparse brows.

The more we age the more our stubborn eyebrow hairs refuse to come back. By using a brow pencil, powder or pomade, you can fake a fuller brow to create a more youthful look. Brows definitely are everything.
You still use the same bright eyeshadows you used in high school.

Eye shadow can also draw unwanted attention to tired eyes, dark circles and lines. While those bright, sparkly colors may have made your eyes pop when you were younger, stick to more neutral, matte shades as you age.
You’re applying mascara to your lower lashes.

Just like dark lower liner, dark lower lashes are something you want to avoid. The darker the lower lashes, the more attention that's drawn to all the under eye lines and circles.
You aren’t using lip liner like you should be.

Lipstick is a great addition to any makeup look, but as we age, our lipstick color can bleed into the fine lines we get around our mouth. Lip liner will help keep that lip color in place for the perfect pout.
You’re overdoing it on the concealer.

While concealer can be great for hiding lines and wrinkles, too much concealer can cause a reverse effect by sinking into them when it dries. Instead, keep the skin around your eyes moisturized, which will plump it up and "fill in" the lines.
You’re applying blush like it’s the 90s.

Do your beautiful face a favor and ditch the bright blush on the apples of your cheeks. To create a youthful look, use a lighter shade that's not so harsh and make sure to blend it along your cheekbones.
Your contouring has created harsh lines.

In a beauty world of contouring and highlighting, harsh lines are a big mistake and can actually make you look older instead of making your face look flawless. Your best bet is to skip this step all together.
You’re creating clumpy lashes with your mascara.

Like dark liners and mascaras, clumpy lashes can also draw attention to crows feet and other unwanted lines. Instead, create long, voluminous lashes with a few simple strokes of mascara on your top lashes.
You’re wearing the same blunt hair cut you’ve had for years.

Instead of a sharp, blunt hair cut, opt for more layers! The layers add a lighter feel to your hair and will help highlight the features of your face.
