11 Easy DIY Facials

By Minq Team
Branislav Nenin

Before you break the bank on expensive spa treatments, check your kitchen. Chances are you have most, if not all, of the ingredients for these easy DIY facials.

Papaya Peel

This brightening face mask is so easy it only involves one ingredient! Simply cut a ripe papaya and remove the pulp and seeds. Rub the inside of the peel around your face focusing on the areas that age easily (forehead, eyes, and mouth). Let dry for about 15 minutes then wash with warm water. The enzymes in the papaya diminish dark spots and firm the skin, giving you a youthful glow.

Oil Cleanse

It may be hard to believe but oil makes a great cleanser. Combine 2 tsp. olive oil with 2 tbsp. plain Greek yogurt and _ tsp. lemon oil. Massage onto skin then immediately wipe off with a wet washcloth. The oil and yogurt help moisturize while lemon acts as a natural brightener.

Green Tea Toner

Like cucumbers, green tea works wonders to de-puff and energize the skin around the eyes. Quickly wet two green tea bags and put them in the freezer for about 3 minutes. The purpose isn’t to freeze the bags you just want them cold. Place on each of your eyes for 15 minutes. Add this to your daily morning routine to ensure you always look refreshed.

Honey and Apple Cider Vinegar

This facial works best for dry skin. Combine 2 tbsp. honey with 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar. Apply mask to face, let sit for 20 minutes, and then wash with warm water. Honey is a natural antibiotic that helps heal skin, whereas the apple cider vinegar helps balance the pH of the skin.

Banana Botox

Before spending a fortune on Botox, go grab a banana. Mash it up until it has a paste-like texture. Apply it to your face, let sit for 10 minutes, and wash off with cold water. Bananas naturally moisturize and firm the skin, making it more smooth and firm.

Milk Toner

Forget what you’ve heard about dairy causing a bad complexion. Using milk as a facial mask can help rejuvenate and tone your skin. Mix _ cup powdered milk with water until it forms a thick paste. Coat your face with the mixture and let it dry thoroughly. Then rinse with warm water and enjoy the fresh feeling.

Egg White Mask

Get that post-spa face without leaving your kitchen. Combine the egg whites from 1 egg with 1 tsp. olive oil and 1 tsp. honey. Apply to face and rinse with warm water after 15 minutes. The protein in the egg firms the skin and diminishes the size of pores, whereas the olive oil and honey moisturize and heal, giving you smooth and glowing skin.

Spice Up Your Skin

Just walk over to your pantry and grab cinnamon, nutmeg, and honey. Mix 2 tbsp. honey with 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1 tsp. nutmeg. Slather onto face and let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water, gently rubbing in a circular motion to exfoliate. While these ingredients are a delicious way to spruce up your latte, they also serve as anti-inflammatories, reducing swelling and redness.

Pumpkin Mask

Pumpkin needs to become a part of your go-to skincare due to its vitamins and antioxidants. Combine _ cup pureed pumpkin with 1 egg, 1 tbsp. honey, and 1 tbsp. milk. Apply evenly to face, let dry for about 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water. The pumpkin naturally exfoliates, brightens, soothes irritation, and calms redness. Now just lay back, relax, and enjoy your beautiful skin.

Classic Cucumber

Here’s a classic facial ingredient that never goes out of style: cucumbers! Puree 3-5 cucumber slices and mix with 1 tbsp. plain yogurt. Apply mixture to face. To get the full spa effect, play calming music and place cucumber slices over the eyes. After 20 minutes rinse with warm water and enjoy your re-energized skin.

Strawberry Mask

Of course strawberries have high nutritional value, but they also have great beauty benefits. Strawberries contain salicylic acid, a common ingredient in acne medication, which cleans pores and makes them smaller. Puree _ cup strawberries with 1 tbsp. milk and 1 tbsp. cornstarch. Apply paste to face, let sit for 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water.
