People can get surprisingly militant when space is at a premium in a public space. One man recalls a situation where his inaction meant a stranger sat in dog poop at a park and ponders if he should have done something about it.
The man shared his odd story on Reddit, explaining that a situation arose in a busy, crowded park. He explains the park has a low concrete wall backing onto grass, which is level with the top. The poster says he grabbed food and spotted a place to perch on the wall. He claims he saw a woman who clearly wanted the spot, but he was closer and went straight there before making a discovery.
The poster alleges he “saw a big pile of dog poop” in the grass by the wall and decided not to sit. The woman from earlier arrived and exclaimed, “Seriously? I was going to sit there.” He claims he did not want to make a fuss and let her take the spot. However, he failed to notify her about the dog poop, and she sat in it, soiling her outfit.
The woman immediately asked, “Why didn’t you say anything?” The poster allegedly replied, “I saw it, yeah, but I didn’t know how you were planning to sit. For all I knew, you were just going to perch on the edge or sit upright. It’s a park. People walk their dogs here. You’ve got to check before sitting down.”
The Man Wonders If He Should Have Made An Effort To Warn About The Dog Poop
The poster claims that the woman insisted he should have warned her, but he’s not sure if he was petty, as she was so confrontational about the space in the first place.
The story garnered over 1200 replies, and while mixed, many believe the man should have spoken up about the poop on the grass. The top comment, with over 13K likes, reads, “This is the part where we need David Beckham poking his nose out of his bedroom door and saying, ‘Be honest.” You were 100% being petty, and you know it.”
Many replies share similar sentiments, although one takes the poster’s side, saying, “Yeah. How dare he get to the first-come-first-served seat that she wanted before she got there! What an AH he is. /s.” Other comments suggest they were both in the wrong, but agree that letting her sit in poop was uncalled for.
