Have you ever watched an episode of America’s next Top Model and thought, “I can do better than those girls!” Or are you looking for a place to showcase your world-renowned smizing talents? Well, Tyra Banks has the perfect opportunity for you. According to PageSix, tickets for the iconic supermodel’s new theme park are now available. Starting May 1st, visitors can experience Tyra Bank’s ModelLand, housed in a spacious Santa Monica property. While it isn’t a traditional theme park for roller-coaster enthusiasts, it offers thrills for those passionate about the modeling industry. Visitors can live their runway fantasies with luxurious photo shoots, complete with couture outfits, professional styling, and modeling tips. The only downside? All of this fantasy will come with a hefty price tag.
The “General Access” tickets (the lowest tier, currently priced at $56), features posing tips from Banks herself, a professional photo shoot, and a digital look book once you’re finished. Guests looking for more of an upgrade can go for the “Fantascene Photoshoot” ticket for a mere $549. Their photo shoot would provide them with a professional makeover, featuring high-quality makeup and a single outfit and wig. Guests would even get snacks and a “signature blood orange beverage”, which better be worth such an expensive price tag.
If neither of those options seem lavish enough, the “Fantascene Dream” tier will surely fulfill their fantasy. For only $1,495, guests will work one-on-one with a professional stylist to customize multiple photo shoot outfits, extra sets of photos, and a personally curated goodie bag from Tyra Banks. Additional perks include a personal ModelLand robe, private VIP seating, a curated row of shots designed for Instagram, and a “hand-crafted ModelLand elixir”. No word on what this elixir actually consists of, so I guess we’ll have to trust that it justifies this price tag.
While many people would balk at the prices, Tyra Banks has an empowering message behind her latest efforts. According to her ModelLand website, Banks describes this place as “the ultimate modeling fantasy”. She notes how, “I believe all shapes AND all sizes AND all ages AND all shades deserve to feel beautiful, powerful, and be the fantasy versions of themselves. ModelLand is not just an attraction. It’s a place full of story that challenges what ‘attractive’ means.”
She continues to describe how she wants the viewer to experience it. She says, “When you step into ModelLand, you enter a fantastical world where we celebrate YOUR uniqueness while we help you master your angles and up your photo game. YOU are ModelLand’s star. Our cameras are waiting for you.”
The cost does seem prohibitive, but Banks ultimately wants to make modeling less intimidating and more empowering. She’s trying to open up her experiences to a wider audience and expand an entire industry’s limited range of representation. Is this the best way for her to do that? Let us know what you think about Bank’s latest efforts at inclusivity, and we’ll be sure to keep up with whatever luxurious idea she works on next.
