Sometimes you just gotta take a chance on love.
One Reddit user took a chance and asked out the most handsome man she ever did see. After the initial moment of anxiety, it turned out that her boldness actually worked out in her favor.
Reddit user sabierak shared a story on the popular forum “TwoXChromosomes.” Her post, titled “I asked out the most handsome man ever, just to see what would happen…” has garnered a lot of attention in the short span of just two days and it’s not hard to see why!
She opened her piece by talking about how the person she thought was the love of her life had broken up with her recently. Naturally, as many of us do in a situation like that, she was depressed and spent weeks crying and avoiding going out. But, like any good friend should, one of her friends brought her to a party to get her out of her funk. While there she spotted a man she described as “just unbelievably handsome.” She decided not to pursue him at first because she feared that someone like him wouldn’t be interested in a girl like her.
But, her senses got a hold of her and she started thinking “Who am I to suppose what he wants?” So, she walked right on up to him and struck up a conversation. They spoke for a few minutes and he seemed to be really kind and interested in a good talk. They spoke a few more times throughout the night and that was it.
Though, once she got home she spoke to her friends and asked for his number. She consulted with her friends on whether it would be weird and after collectively agreeing that she should go for it, she sent a message asking if they could get coffee. Her friends asked her if he had a girlfriend. She admitted that she had no idea, but the deed was done and the message was out in the cosmos.
A few anxious moments, he responded saying that he would love to! Cue their first date, which lasted a whopping six hours. Of the whole experience, she wrote, “It was everything I hoped it would be, an honest, pleasurable chat with a stranger, that lasted just a bit too long […] but totally without any kind of pressure. But the thing I found out […] is how insecure that man is. He doesn’t even see himself as handsome. Actually, the most handsome man I ever saw probably couldn’t believe that a girl like me just texted him out of the blue…”
She concluded by saying that she started thinking of how we perceive ourselves and others and “maybe it’s time to stop being so hard on ourselves, and wary of other people…”
The post has earned an outpouring of support from strangers and in two days it’s gained over 20,000 upvotes. Let this be your inspiration to just go for it sometimes!
