One woman is showing the world what it really means to have love for yourself. It’s not about the way you look, it’s about who you are as a person on the inside.
This talented makeup artist took to Instagram to explain why she considers herself her own WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday), despite the fact that she’s cross-eyed.
The condition that causes the eyes to look cross-eyed is called Strabismus. Strabismus is defined by the American Optometric Association as “a condition in which both eyes do not look at the same place at the same time. It usually occurs in people who have poor eye muscle control or are very farsighted.”
It’s caused when the eye muscles start having problems or the nerves that transmit information to the muscles don’t work.
The condition typically develops in babies and young children by the age of three.
This girl from Philadephia is Talya Reynolds, but goes by the name of “Mrs. Betty Wap” and username @pinkbarbie_x3, on her Instagram.
She is a full-time, freelance makeup artist that travels all over creating amazing looks on clients. And she’s completely self-taught!
But her positive message is what matters the most.
Tayla is using her unique beauty to empower other women to let them know that everyone has insecurities about being ‘perfect’ and that true beauty comes from not looking the same as everyone else.
“If you don’t know now you know YES! I’m cross-eyed and I love it. I have my days where it gets me down and I see a bunch of beautiful women who have perfect eyes, and sometimes I question God, ‘Why me?’
I ask him if maybe, one day, I’ll wake up and be normal. But he told me, ‘Daughter, I made you this way because I believe you are stronger and you have much more to offer, more than a pretty face.'”
At the end of the day, we’re all human. Just because someone has a physical difference doesn’t mean they are any less special.
And that’s exactly what her message is conveying.
“I have a heart and I bleed and cry just like you. Don’t treat me any less.”
In the image-obsessed world we live in, social media portrays all of these ‘ideal images’ of the perfect body, the perfect face, the perfect hairstyle, etc. When in reality, a huge majority of those ‘ideal images’ are extremely altered and photoshopped to look a certain way, because that’s the sad truth of “societal standards.”
Tayla mentioned how, in the past, she’s been bullied by those who do not understand or are just extremely judgmental right off the bat. But she’s stronger than letting the opinions of others affect her.
“Love yourself and show love to others — you never know what someone is going through. I wish the world was a better place, but it starts with us! Be blessed and continue to love the picture God painted.”
The fact that Tayla shared her insecurity publically just goes to show how strong of a woman she is!
And can we just point out the fact that her makeup creations always look incredible! Seriously, this beauty is going to go so far in life with her positive attitude and hard work.
