What girl doesn't get giddy over buying a new dress? Well, here's something that will make you even more excited: you've already got tons of free new dresses sitting in your closet, you just have to be crafty enough to spot them! Don't worry, we'll help you out with some amazing DIY dresses that look like a million bucks.

Skirt To Dress

Any long skirt can easily become a perfect sundress with just a few simple stitches. Pull the skirt up and cut some holes out for your arms, or add some shoulder straps. Make sure to cinch it with a belt of ribbon.

Stamp Of Approval

Sometimes a simple look is best, but if your plain-colored dress is boring you, then you can spice it up and express yourself with some stamps. Find some fun stamps or make your own, and then start creating your new design with fabric paint.

Sew Cute

Some basic sewing skills is all you need to easily spiff up any dress in your wardrobe. Adding some basic edging around the hems or in a criss-cross pattern will give the garment an entirely new look. Be sure to choose a contrasting color for your fabric, and you can try lace for a feminine touch if you want. If you can’t sew, some fabric adhesive will work as well.

A Real Gem

Looking to add some glamour and sparkle to your old dress? Shop for some jewels in tones that will coordinate with the dress you are working with. Glue them on and you will create a dressier version of a dress you already love.

T-Shirt To Dress

A long t-shirt can become a pretty knot dress with a couple of strategic snips. Cut the shirt in half at the waist. Snip a hole in the bottom center of the top half and a slit in the top center of the bottom half. Then put the cut portions of the bottom half through the hole in the top half and tie it together for a cute and fun look that is trendy.

Shirt To Skirt In 5 Seconds

This is such an amazingly simple tip that will completely change how you see long sleeve shirts. Just find a good long sleeve shirt, or borrow one from your male partner’s closet, and step into it through the collar. Pull it up to your waist, and then simply tie the sleeves into a cute bow.

Take Your Maxi To The Max

A long maxi dress can be turned into fancy formal wear with some creative detailing. Add a fancy belt and some detailing to a floor-length dress that you already own. Splashes of gold or silver will give your dress the pop it needs to become something special. Cut it apart at the waist and pin back together with coordinating pins for a sexy new look.

Scarf To Dress

This is a quick ten minute project that anyone can do. Take wide scarf and make a slit in the middle. Sew the sides together on each side, or you can tie them together at the top and use safety pins to hold the sides closed if you don’t sew. Add elastic around the waist band or cinch a belt in the middle and you have a flirty new dress.

Huge Housedress To Party Dress

Even an ugly big dress can turn into something cute and flirty. Take a dress with sleeves and turn it around backwards. Button it all the way to the top and then tie the sleeves together. It just became your new adorable party dress.

Three T-Shirts To One Dress

Make a dress out of three t-shirts you can easily find on sale. Leave the top of the first one, add another tier out of the second and then take the body of the third and sew it on the bottom to make the end of this pretty dress. Mix and match your favorite colors to really express yourself.

Cut It Out

Cutouts are a super easy way to take your old dress from bland to edgy. Even simply cutting of the shoulders of a sleeved dress can completely transform it, or you can try more intricate patterns. Just be sure you plan it out before you put scissors to fabric.

DIY His And Hers Dress

Create a comfortable dress out of a combination of your shirt and your partner’s. A t-shirt on the top makes a nice casual dress when you add part of a men’s shirt on the bottom. You’ll love wearing this comfortable and casual dress.

Gradient Dip Dye Dress

Ombre is the hottest trend right now, and it’s super easy to give your white dress that fashionable look with a little dye. Dip your dress into a bucket of dye at various levels, beginning with the most fabric dipped and ending with the least. Let it sit overnight and discover your perfect gradient dress.
