11 Ways Guys Dress Horribly Wrong

There is always so much focus on women's fashion, but the gender that really needs the style help is men. Some men know how to dress, but there are a number of trends in male "fashion" that are just not cutting it.

Sandals and Socks

Socks are a definite no-no with sandals. If it’s cold enough for socks then the sandals should be traded for a pair of shoes.

Forgoing Dress Socks

Unless you are hitting the gym or the basketball court with your buds white socks should not be worn with any outfit, especially a suit.  Invest in a few pairs of dress socks please. You can never go wrong with black.

Mismatched Belt and Shoes

This is one of the cardinal rules of dressing, yet very few men seem to know it.  Always always always match your belt with your shoes.  If you are wearing black shoes go with a black belt, brown shoes with a brown belt.  It’s not rocket science.

Limiting Yourself

Yes, fashion does have a lot of rules, but the most important one is expressing yourself.  Experiment with color and new styles.  You will be surprised at what actually looks good on you.  Don’t limit yourself to a few simple articles of clothing, try new things!

Tie Lighter Than Dress Shirt

A tie should complement the shirt, not stick out like a sore thumb. Also, don’t wear a tie the same color as the shirt.

Deep V-Necks

We’re all very proud that you were able to grow chest hair, but we don’t need to see so much of it. Showing what’s on or not on your chest is distracting. Like too much cleavage, it’s inappropriate.

Cartoon Clothing And Joke T-shirts

These shirts are usually not that funny, and all they really tell people is that the wearer is immature. Cartoon characters can be cute, but usually not on a guy who’s past puberty. Invest in classic pieces that will be stylish for years.

Cargo Shorts

Why do these even exist? All those large pockets make the shorts look so bulky and silly. Just get a pair of regular khaki shorts and you’ll look a million times better.

Tucking In Casual Shirts

Polo shirts are the exception. Anything that’s casual should be left outside the pants. If it’s so long it looks ridiculous it’s too big for you.

Untucking Dress Shirts

This is just plain sloppy. If a shirt has a curve at the bottom it needs to be tucked in. Make sure you have an appropriate belt as well.

Tennis Shoes And Dress Pants

You wouldn’t wear dress shoes with athletic shorts. Purchasing a nice pair of shoes is essential. Andy Samberg may be cool, but even he can’t get away with this tacky look.

Ill-Fitting Suits

Wearing a suit that’s too big looks bad. Wearing one that’s too small is even worse. If you’re going to spend the money to buy a suit, make sure it’s fitted properly.

Short Shorts

This is only acceptable if you’re running marathons. It just looks tacky otherwise. Guys’ shorts should come right above the knee. Unless, you know, that’s your thing.

Skinny Jeans

Wearing skinning jeans is unhygienic and has been known to cause physical complications for guys. Besides health issues, only men with extraordinary physiques can pull this look off.
