13 Tips For Surviving Your Weekly Target Shopping Sprees

By Minq Team

Let's face it, you definitely have a Target addiction. Every week you tell yourself to just stick to the list, but somehow you come out with five shopping carts full of stuff you really didn't need. Here are some handy tips to get you through those addicting Target runs (and hopefully save you a buck or two)!

Target has a schedule for when it marks certain items down.

Monday: baby items, children’s clothing, electronics. Tuesday: home decor, women’s clothing, domestic items. Wednesday: Food, health and beauty items, men’s clothing, toys. Thursday: Sporting goods, shoes, luggage, housewares. Friday: Cosmetics, jewelry, hardware, automotive, home improvement items.

Get money back a week after buying an item.

You finally gave in to those cute shoes you’ve had your eye on and, just your luck, they end up going on sale the next day. Well, your luck just might turn around because Target refunds you the difference if the item you bought goes on sale within two weeks after you bought it.

Target will price match (almost) anything you buy!

For the most part, Target will price match any national or local retailers with a lower price. Just show your receipt to Guest Services and start saving money!

The price tag will tell you the percent markdown on an item.

This is helpful for those of us who are not-so-secretly bad at math. In the lower left hand corner of the clearance tags is the original price of the item and in the upper right hand corner you will find the percent the item is marked down.

Shop the Dollar Spot.

The Dollar Spot is located at the front of the store and is piled high with cute and useful items that range from $1 to $3. From stationary to handy car adaptors, the Dollar Spot has it all!

Get paid for bringing in reusable bags.

For every reusable bag you bring in, Target will give you 5 cents back! Imagine a big grocery haul — that’s a lot of bags!

Those bright red clearance stickers may be marked down again.

If the clearance tag ends in a $0.06 or $0.08, the item is very likely to be marked down again. They will typically remain on clearance for about two weeks.

But for some items, they’re on their final run.

However, if the clearance tag ends in a $0.04, you better grab it now because it won’t be marked down any further! When they’re gone, they’re GONE!

You can return any item fo’ free!

All you have to do is go to the return center online and print out a prepaid return label. Target has the fees covered!

Don’t be afraid to issue a rain check!

Did you rush to Target for the waffle iron you’ve been waiting to go on sale just to find that it’s out of stock? Well, pick up a rain check slip and when the item is back in stock you can still purchase it for the sale price.

You may even be lucky enough to get a gift card with your purchase.

Does the clearance sticker end in a $0.49, $0.79 or $0.99? Then you’re eligible for a Target gift card promotion! Be sure to check out the fine print.

Shop the holidays late.

We’re not claiming that you need to skip out on Christmas decorations this year, but it’s smarter to shop for the following Christmas after the current one ends. Since Target is trying to make room for more inventory, it often reduces prices on holiday items rapidly (starting around 50 percent off and getting down to 90 percent off a week or so after any given holiday).

Coupons are just a text away.

No longer will you not have anyone to text — you can now wake up to a good morning text from Target. Text COUPONS to 827438 for monthly coupons sent to your phone.
