There’s nothing quite like coming home after a long day and putting on your most comfortable clothes, right? Everyone’s got that one pair of sweats or comfortable pajamas that they wear around the house. It might not be the most flattering outfit but it’s perfect for catching up on TV or lounging around. But, should people be more concerned about the attractiveness of their loungewear?
A woman took to the online forum Mumsnet after her husband made her seriously angry. In her post, she asks fellow forum users if they would wear the pajamas she does. The reason she wants to know? Her husband told her they’re “not sexy enough”!

Her husband’s concern is that the pajamas are not appropriate for her to wear “on the off chance that [they] may have sex.” The woman who posted the question was pretty annoyed with her “twat of a husband” for saying that she should be wearing something more sexy to bed.
She turned to the forum to see if others felt the same. Many commenters did agree with her. One said, “I think this is crazy, since when do men feel it’s ok to tell women what to wear in bed.”
Another said, “Any man who told me how I should dress for him in bed (or anywhere else) would be sleeping in the spare room.”
However, not everyone sided with the woman. For example, one comment called her pajama pants “a form of contraception.”
Some people were curious about what the woman’s husband wears to bed. Is he looking his best when heading to bed or is he furthering a double standard? The policing of women’s clothing happens a lot, especially at work and school. But now it’s going so far as around the house. Does this situation show just how far the reach of sexism truly is?
