An Unfortunate Fact
It’s unfortunate that people even in the happiest relations can be cheated on. Sometimes it can be on accident, or simply because one of the partners is getting bored in the relationship. No matter what the reason is, there’s no denying how much it hurts the other partner and the amount of damage cheating does. Like a glass hitting the ground, the trust between the couple is completely shattered. Sure, there’s hope of repairing the relationship, but it’s never going to be the same as it was before.
One Reddit user named ‘Meredith’ thought this was the case when she was cleaning her bathroom one day. Although, there’s always more to the story than what meets the eye.

Something Wasn’t Right
The day started out like any other; Meredith was taking care of a few house chores while Ron was at work. Meredith wanted to surprise her husband and thought it would be nice for him to come home to a spotless house. She started her cleaning journey in the master bedroom’s bathroom and set to work cleaning the shower. After all, who wants to use a messy bathroom?
While she was hard at work scrubbing away at the grim on the shower tiles, Meredith couldn’t help but notice something.
“There were a number of long blonde hair strands over my bathroom wall by the shower,” Meredith recalled.
Seeing these hairs immediately struck Meredith as odd and suspicious, and for a good reason.

She Started To Get Suspicious
There no way the hair belonged to Roy or Meredith; Roy was bald, and Meredith had a short, cropped hairstyle. So, how on earth did those strands get into their shower? Was there something going on between Roy and another woman?
If this was a one-time occurrence, maybe Meredith could have chalked it up to some weird chance. Like maybe Roy’s sister had come to visit, and needed to use their shower. This would have made perfect sense, but Roy’s sister lived on the other side of the country and had not visited them in months.
The weirdest thing was, the hairs would only appear when Melissa was at work or out of the house for extended periods of time. Could Roy really have been sneaking over a blonde-haired beauty behind Melissa’s back? Well, there was only one way to know for sure.

Confronting Roy
When Roy returned home later that evening, Meredith confronted him about the mysterious blonde hairs in their shower. Roy simply shrugged it off, claiming he had no idea where they came from.
If Roy thought this would be of some comfort to Meredith, he was dead wrong. These actions only added fuel to the fire; Meredith definitely saw the hairs and was now completely convinced there was something fishy going on.
However, she did not want to accuse Roy of something without concrete proof. Doing so could damage their relationship beyond repair, and Meredith did not want to risk that. So, although it pained her to do so, Meredith bit her tongue. She even debated installing secret cameras to learn what Roy was up to, but ultimately decided against it.
Meredith wasn’t sure if she would ever find out what was going on. Luckily for her, she would get answers in a few weeks.

Setting The Trap
After a few weeks of still not knowing the source of the blonde hairs, Meredith decided enough was enough. Meredith hatched a plan to find out the truth. She left work early one day in hopes of catching this mystery woman and Roy in the act. When she got home however, she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
“I was expecting another car on the drive or parked outside on the street,” Meredith recalled. “There was no other car I didn’t recognize.”
Did Roy have his mistress hide her car on a different street? Did she hail a cab to get there? Maybe she lived close enough to walk instead of driving. It was looking as though Roy was going to extreme lengths to hide his affair, and Meredith was determined to get answers.
However, Meredith noticed something odd when she opened the front door; there was a pair of men’s shoes she hadn’t seen before. Confused about this new information and unsure of what to do next, Meredith contemplated what her next course of action should be.
Luckily for her, she didn’t have to make that decision, because moments later, Roy appeared in the hallway with two cups of tea. He was absolutely shocked to see Meredith there. After all, it was in the middle of the workday. Was Roy about to sit down for some tea with another woman?
Playing the naive card, Meredith asked Roy how he knew she’d be coming home to make her tea. She was milking this for all it was worth, and planned on finally getting the truth.
Knowing he was done for, Roy pulled her into the living room and explained everything.

Finding Out The Truth
After getting situated, Roy launched into what was actually going on. A couple of months prior, Roy’s friend, “Dave,” fell on hard times and lost his job. This led to him becoming homeless, and without access to a shower. So, in order to freshen up for job interviews, Roy allowed Dave to use his shower and even borrow some appropriate clothes. Dave also had long hair and a beard, meaning he was the owner of the blonde hairs Meredith found weeks ago while she was cleaning the shower.
It was as though a huge weight was lifted off of Meredith’s shoulders; Roy wasn’t sneaking some blonde bimbo into the house while Meredith was away, he was just helping out a friend who had fallen on hard times. Meredith was relieved he wasn’t cheating on her, but was kind of confused; why hadn’t Roy told her from the beginning?
“[I] was worried about [your] reaction, and [you not] approving of the situation,” Roy explained. “Dave was [also] very embarrassed about the whole situation, and didn’t want people to know what he was having to do.”
So, after weeks of wondering, Meredith finally got her answers. Roy wasn’t seeing another woman on the side, he was just being a good friend to someone who really needed it.
