It seems that each day, a new “ideal body type” is being thrown at us. However, what do women and men actually find attractive? Lingerie shop Blue Bella polled 500 men and 500 women, having them compile different celebrity body parts into the “ideal woman.” All bodies are beautiful in their own way but we were curious to see how men and women differ in their preferences.
Interestingly, men seemed to pick more curvaceous ideals than did women. Specifically, men chose Michelle Keegan’s stomach, Rosie Huntington Whiteley’s legs, and Kim Kardashian’s breasts. Their “ideal” figure on the right has wider hips, thicker legs, a softer stomach, and bigger breasts. Women gravitated towards a much thinner “ideal.” They chose Elle Macpherson’s more slender legs, Gwyneth Paltrow’s flatter stomach, Emma Watson’s narrow hips, and Jennifer Aniston’s smaller breasts.
While we feel the commodification of women is never ok, Blue Bella’s poll reminds us that beauty “ideals” are not stagnant and that each individual has his or her unique perception of beauty.
