Multi-colored hair is totally having a moment right now. There’s the bright and bold rainbow hair, a blue-toned variation called peacock hair, fire hair, the red-toned variation, the soft and subtle opal hair, the list goes on an on. We just can’t get enough fun, colorful hairstyles. And now there’s a new hair color combination that is stealing the show – macaron hair.
As its name suggest, the hair trend was inspired by the sweet French cookie, the macaron. Macarons are light and fluffy, and come in an array of beautiful pastel shades. The pioneer behind this hair trend, Shelley Gregory from the Atelier Salon in Las Vegas, told Popsugar, “I wanted the hair to look and feel like walking into Laduree, the French macaron shop.”
We think Gregory definitely hit the mark! Our mouths are watering just looking at this colorful hairdo. The softer shades of color give off a romantic, dreamy vibe, like she’s a cross between a mermaid, a fairy princess and a unicorn. “The color stands out and looks trendy, but it’s still chic and approachable,” says Gregory.

To get this beautiful look, Gregory hand-painted various pastel colors onto layered segments of hair. After washing out the dye, we are left with a sweet, candy-colored rainbow. Truly stunning!
