You read that right! There’s another new hair trend that’s breaking barriers and pushing the limit of the typical dye jobs we see. Rainbow hair was a popular trend that surfaced a few months ago and as much as we loved it, some of us found it hard to commit to a head full of different colors.
Well, this new hair trend is a play on the rainbow hair trend, but in a subtle way. Hello rainbow roots. We’re in love and slightly obsessed. With the rainbow roots hair trend, just the roots of the hair are dyed different colors, as the name suggests. The rest of the hair is left alone.
Surprisingly this hairstyle comes courtesy of One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson’s sister, Lottie. She showed the process of the rainbow roots hair trend on her Instagram. While painting on different color stripes to just the roots of your hair may sound a little bizarre, the end result is gorgeous. Love, love, love!

You start the process by painting random colors next to each other on just a few inches of the roots.

You then need to let the dyes sit and dry completely, otherwise they’ll fade together when you go to rinse it out.

Once rinsed and dried, the end product is gorgeous! We’re obsessed with this new colored hair trend!
