Snails, or terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks, are a hot skincare trend, and science tells us they actually work really well.
In Korea, where skincare is an integral part of the culture, snail-skincare has been backed up by some serious R&D, consumer testing, and cutting edge laboratories.
Here’s the low-down:
Snail cream is created by harvesting the secretions the snails leave behind as they move, then transforming it into powder. This slime is packed with nutrients, including hyaluronic acid, glycoprotein enzymes, antimicrobial peptides and proteoglycans. These nutrients are fillers which plump your skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Snail cream can increase skin’s suppleness, reduces acne, and can even keep some types of rosacea at bay.
Looks like our skin may be missing some snail slime. Will you try it out?
