In a society where narrow perceptions of beauty are present, there are also brave people out there looking to defy these perceptions with their own definitions. No matter your gender, race, ethnicity, eye color, hair color etc., every one is beautiful and the #InMySkinIWin campaign is proving yet another reason to love yourself. People with rare skin conditions are using this hashtag to showcase beautiful pictures of themselves. Between the positive body image and proving that there is more than one definition of beautiful, this group of people is taking a powerful stand.
The campaign was started by a famous fashion model who also has a rare skin condition, albinism. Shaun Ross’s hope with this campaign is to not stop bullying entirely, but rather to shape our own view of beauty and to see ourselves as beautiful. In a society so focused on tearing others who are different down, we love the unity the #InMySkinIWin hashtag brings and the positive self-love message it sends to everyone who has ever felt different.
