A woman discovers the lies her ex-boyfriend has been spreading and attempts to shut down the rumors.
A Relationship With A Closeted Liar

Sometimes you meet someone, and they’re perfect, and you know it’s too good to be true. One woman had to figure that out the hard way, and the story is pretty crazy.
Reddit user, BelleRock, shared her story about the ‘perfect guy’ she dated, who ended up revealing his true colors, just after 4 months.
This is the story of a guy who told everyone that he and his girlfriend were engaged when, in reality, they weren’t. But that’s not all that happened. Here’s how everything unraveled…
His Secret ‘Illness’

The woman was once in a relationship with a man who was very sweet and seemed to be normal. The man is referred to as Dante in the story.
So Dante and the woman went through the process of meeting and learning cute little things about each other, such as what their favorite hobbies are. The woman is a singer/songwriter and has an obsession with music and writing. Dante takes this as an idea to write the woman songs, with her as his muse.
“They were beautiful. At least once a month, he’d show me something he’d written. This guy was the perfect boyfriend.”
However, the ‘honeymoon phase’ usually lasts a few months in typical relationships. Which is when the woman started to see a change in Dante.
“About 4 months into the relationship, I noticed Dante getting slimmer. Not a whole lot, as he was already a slim guy, but enough for me to notice. Then one day, as we were having lunch at a pizzeria with his best friend, he took a couple of bites of his pizza and suddenly ran to the bathroom. He was in there for -no joke- at least 40 minutes. When he finally came out, he looked shaky and pale.”
Dante’s best friend and the girl were concerned, and asked him what was going on. Dante would only open up to his friend, not his girlfriend. So the friend confronted the girl and told her that she needed to talk to Dante, but not until they’re at home.
After demanding Dante to tell her what happened, he explained to her that he had a disease.
“His disease made the lining in his stomach extra thin. He couldn’t eat acidic foods, and the pizza messed his stomach up a bit. According to him, doctors had given him about 5 years to live before the gastric acid ate away at his stomach lining, turned into peritonitis and killed him.”
This concerned her and made her extremely cautious of all foods he ate with her, while they were still together.
The Break Up

A month after Dante had opened up about his illness, she felt like something was off in their relationship.
“This was too movie plot-ish. He was freaking PERFECT. As in we never had a fight, not even an argument. He would have lassoed the moon and gifted it to me if I wanted it. He was too good to be true…and now he was dying? Nah. Something smelled fishy, and the smell was making me sick.”
She no longer wanted to be in the relationship and felt really suspicious about the ordeal. So she confided in her mother and asked for her advice about what she should do.
“Anyway, my mom told me to listen to my gut… so I dumped him. Before you call me names, hear me out! It wasn’t cold turkey. I’m not very good at hiding my emotions; if I’m unhappy, oh, you’ll notice. He knew things were going sour.”
Immediately after the breakup, Dante just so happened to be in the hospital. And he lived 2 hours away from her, so she had no other choice but to break up with him over the phone.
“I felt bad enough about that when, about 20 minutes after, he called me to let me know he was in the hospital. I freaked out a little and asked him to put his mom on the phone because I wanted to know which hospital he was at so I could get there. Instead of putting him mom on, he stuttered a bit and then said there was no point to me going there because he wasn’t gonna be there for long. I told him to call me as soon as he was home, which he did…about an hour later. Play that out in your head, okay? Breakup. Breakdown. Disease acts up. Drive to the hospital. Wait your turn. Checkup. Treatment. Get discharged. Drive back home. In the span of an hour and a half? Right…”
So if Dante had enough energy to call her and talk, then how sick was he really? She said he sounded fine on the phone and so her suspicions continued to grow.
The Engagement Status

The morning after she broke up with him, her sister woke her up to some news. According to Dante’s Facebook relationship status, Dante was ENGAGED!
Since the breakup had literally just happened, social media friends were not aware that Dante was no longer with his girl, and instead, he was now engaged.
“Loads of people were commenting ‘Congrats to you both,’ assuming I was the second party in this ‘engagement’ because they all knew me already. So I called him.”
When Dante answered the phone and she asked him why he changed his status to engaged. He asked her if she was mad.
Her response:
“Yes, I’m mad! What the heck? My whole family is on Facebook, take that down, NOW!”
But according to Dante, the engagement wasn’t fake! He claimed that the engagement was true, due to a magic trick he once did for her. Yeah, he did apparently propose at one point…
Magic Trick Manipulation

“One day, Dante called me at 7 am, while he was already on his way to my house, and asked if he could stop by to show me a magic trick. Yes, you read that right. I said yes because once I wake up I can’t get back to sleep anyway and because I’m a freaking idiot.
So he gets there, all excited, and takes a pack of cards out of his pocket. He tells me to take the card at the top and I do it, except that when I looked at the rest of the deck he was holding, a rectangle had been cut out of it and there was a ring in the hole. An engagement ring. Several sizes too big.
Then Dante starts his ‘Will you marry me’ speech, and I’m just sitting there dumbfounded and terrified because I was 19 and I DON’T WANNA GET MARRIED. So I said no. I explained I cared about him a lot and wanted to be with him still if he wanted it too, but I was too young. He was bummed out, of course, but said he respected my honesty.
Also, he asked me to keep the ring anyway, for safekeeping. He explained that his grandpa gave it to him (it was his late grandma’s) and he would be embarrassed to have to give it back so soon. I said I would keep it for a week, he said that was fine.
A week went by and, when I asked him about it, he said he told his grandpa and that he had told him to ask me to keep it safe for him. See, Dante’s mom had always wanted the ring for herself and had a tendency to go through his stuff, so he couldn’t keep it in his room. I had put it in an old jewelry box and kept it in the back of my closet, and almost forgotten about it. It was still there. I still had that freaking ring.”
Denying His Proposal

Back to the present, during their phone conversation she told him that they were NOT engaged. He questioned her on why she still had the ring, then. She told him to take down the relationship status on Facebook and he obliged and told her he was sorry.
Unfortunately, him posting the status in the first place caused enough damage and confusion among family and friends.
“Everybody thought we’d been engaged and that I was ashamed to admit it, for some reason. They thought I’d kept it a secret. I dealt with the aftermath of that for YEARS.”
Eventually, she did give him back the ring, but not immediately, as she did not want to see him after all of this drama happened.
The Truth About His Songs And His Disease

Another month goes by, and the woman is talking to her sister’s boyfriend about Dante, and how he would call her 24/7, going “full psycho” on her.
The sister’s boyfriend then asked her about the songs that Dante used to write for her. She showed him and he came to a revelation about those songs.
“I showed them to him and he went really quiet for a second, then proceeded to tell me that these were, in fact, Christian songs (which I know nothing about). He had changed allof the names in the songs, to ‘baby’ and/or my name.”
In terms of his disease, she later found out from Dante’s mother that it was actually acid reflux. Nothing to be too concerned about.
However, a week after the conversation with her sister’s boyfriend, Dante reached out again.
He had called the woman’s best friend to inform her that he had cancer and had 5 years to live.
While cancer is not something to ever joke about, she had her doubts that he was being honest about it, given his untruthful track record.

A few Redditors commented about the situation.
Some users were concerned about the guy’s dishonesty.
“Oh my god.. how are people this manipulative? Scary if you ask me.”
“Well, sounds like you dodged a man-crazy bullet there!”
Another user agreed on the lack of truth in his personality.
“Oh wow, so he’s just the epitome of being a fake, like dude why the plagiarizing, not cool.”
This whole topic reminds us of a similar story coming from, user, continental-drift.
The Reddit user shared a story on behalf of his friend, Andrew, who had to experience the scary stalkers of online dating.
It only took 3 days for the girl to reveal just how much of a lunatic she was to a guy she barely knew.
The Crazy Stalker From Online Dating

According to what Continental-Drift posted, their friend Andrew had been using online dating websites and just so happened to get a message from a woman named Helen.
“Wednesday Night: I get a message from Helen saying I looked cute. Immediately think one of my mates is trying to pull my leg here but I play along. I’ve never been called cute. Interesting? Yes. Leery? Often. But never cute. Helen seems normal if a little giggly. She must be nervous. We email back and forth and then chat on MSN. It all seems to be going quite nicely.”
Then Thursday morning hit, and he woke up to 3 emails from Helen, noticing some red flags from the start.
By Thursday afternoon, Helen had already sent another email, plus a text message. But Andrew didn’t remember ever giving Helen his phone number…
By Thursday night, Helen was calling him on his phone, and the two of them chatted and made plans to meet in real life the next day.
From Total Stranger To New Boyfriend

Sounds like things might be ok, right? Well… Friday afternoon, Helen has sent 4 emails, expressing her excitement and anticipation of meeting Andrew and how she will pick him up at 7 pm.
“Friday night: It is 6 pm and I hear a car pull up outside. I peer out the window and see that it is Helen. She’s an hour early. There’s a small insistent voice in my head that keeps telling me this is a little weird. I ignore it as Helen is wearing a short dress. I invite her in and excuse myself so I can shower. While soaping up I come to the realization that I didn’t actually tell Helen where I lived.”
So the two of them go on their date and enjoy their night together, Andrew leaves as to not extend his stay, and Helen is already plotting the next hang out.
“Saturday Morning: I wake up to my phone beeping. I have a text message from Helen. She says “thanks for the wonderful night” and she hopes I’m not too hungover. I stumble out of bed and have a shower. My shower is interrupted by a phone call. It’s Helen. She wants to know if I want to go to a BBQ later that day. I said, ‘Sure, that sounds wonderful.’ As I hang up the phone I start to wonder why I said that. Helen is coming at 1 pm but it is 10 am, so she’ll be here any minute…”
Saturday afternoon rolls around and Helen and Andrew show up to the BBQ, only for Andrew to figure out, it’s Helen’s family reunion. Helen is introducing Andrew as her “New Boyfriend” and he is uncomfortable as ever.
It gets worse.
Andrew is then cornered by Helen’s mother, with her questioning him on when Helen and he will have children… He mentions how it’s too early for that sort of conversation and then comes up with a plan to get out of the awkward situation he’s unfortunately gotten himself into. He tells Helen he has a terrible headache and somehow convinces her to drop him off at home.
As predicted, he receives more messages and phone calls from no one other than, Helen! He ignores them and goes to sleep.
“Sunday Morning: I wake up to a text message from Helen asking me, ‘What are WE doing today?’ I reply, ‘I’m helping a friend move and then he’s taking me to a movie.’ I get silence for a good hour or so and then a message telling me to ‘jump off a bridge’. I immediately get another message from her apologizing for her actions and that she hopes I have a good time with my mates.”
Obsession Turning Into Accusations

Sunday night, the guy goes to catch up with his friends to let them all know about Helen. His friends seem concerned, but take him out to the movies anyways.
During the movie, they all had to turn off their cell phones, as per policy at movie theatres. Well, when the movie was over and the guy turned his phone back on, he was notified of 14 messages and 7 missed phone calls from Helen.
“The messages range from ‘I hope you’re having a great time, babe’ to ‘You freakin’ jerk. You’re with another girl, aren’t you?’ I decide that Helen and I are done. I get home and tuck myself into bed. At 2 am I get a message. I wearily roll over and grab my phone. The message reads ‘Andrew. We need to talk. I know you are in there. I am watching you sleep.’
I look out through the window and there she is, standing in my garden bed like some sort of loon. She beckons to me. I shake my head and say out the window, ‘No Helen. We’ll talk about this in the morning.’ She howls like a banshee when she hears this. I shut the window, make sure the front door is locked and turn off my phone.
At 4 am I get up and look out the window. Helen is still there, frantically writing on a pad of paper. She’s been there all night long. I wait for another hour or so until I hear her leave, her car squealing like a kicked cat up the street. I open the door and written all over my front step are cruel words, in black pen, accusing me of cheating on her. Also on my front step is about 15 pages of handwritten scrawl.”
According to Helen, Andrew was “the one” for her, even after only knowing each other for 5 days…
But in the end, Helen backed off and Andrew hasn’t seen her since her showing up, uninvited, to his home.
