Genius No-Sew Ways To Get Perfectly Tailored Clothes

By Kelsey Stoskopf
Julia Kuzenkova

Finding clothes that fit perfectly is a miracle. Whether your jeans are too long or your blouse just doesn't seem to stay in place, professionally tailored clothes can rack up quite the bill by the time you've made all of the necessary adjustments. If you are in a bind or just don't know how to sew, these simple no-sew tactics will get you perfectly tailored clothes in no time.

Waist Extenders

Waist extenders get rid of the awful feat of shopping for jeans. The extenders are fastened to the existing button and you're instantly given another inch of wiggle room.

Fabric Glue

Fabric glue is a fix-it-all way to fix your own clothes. Although it takes a little more patience than some other options, it beats spending hundreds of dollars on alterations. There are many different fabric glues for any and all material, so you'll be sure to find a glue that works with what you're trying to do.

Collar Extenders

These extenders for your collars work in the same way as the waist extenders. They have a button that you connect to the existing button. It gives you a little extra space if you feel like you're being choked by your collar.

Hem Tape

Simply put this special double-sided tape on pants legs, shirt sleeves, skirts or anything else you need hemmed for an instant length reduction. You can also use hem tape to fix frayed hems. No sewing, no ironing required.

Braza’s Tack-Itz

How awful are those pesky tags on the back of shirts? Instead of ripping them off, place a Tack-Itz, which is a small adhesive patch, over the tag to get rid of that annoying itch.

Buttoneer

Buttons pop off easier than one might think, but that doesn't mean the shirt is no longer wearable. The Buttoneer allows you to reattach the button without sewing a thing!

Heel Cushions

Whether your shoe gets stretched out or you just need a little extra comfort, heel cushions are the way to go. You can layer them on as you need to provide extra comfort and prevent your foot from slipping out.

Shoe Stretcher

On the other hand, if your shoes are too tight, use a shoe stretcher. It'll quickly break in your shoes so you don't have to wear uncomfortable shoes that don't quite fit yet.

Electric Fabric Shaver

You know those sweaters that just seem to collect every piece of fuzz? Well, an electric fabric shaver will solve all of your problems by gently shaving all of the fuzzies off.

Fashion Tape

The double-sided tape can be used to get rid of gaps or puckering between buttons without having to get it tailored to fit perfectly. Plus, fashion tape works miracles for those plunging necklines you're always too scared to wear.

Shoe Goo Adhesive

Breaking a heel is probably one of the worst things that can happen. Instead of ditching the shoes or spending a crazy amount of money to get them repaired, try using Shoe Goo Adhesive. The adhesive can glue a heel back on or even replace the sole of a shoe.
