Whether we like to admit it or not, we all take selfies, and there's nothing wrong with that. But if your selfies aren't turning out the way you want, there might be some simple quick fixes to get the perfect selfie. You don't need to spend hours fixing all your selfies, you just need make these changes to your selfie game.
Make sure you’re in natural light.

Choosing good, natural lighting is the best way to get a beautiful selfie. Light is definitely the best beauty product for a flawless look. Make sure you're facing a source of natural light instead of your TV or computer screen. You'll be surprised at the difference good lighting can make, especially on your blemishes and unwanted shadows.
Angle your phone a certain way.

No one wants to see up your nose and that is exactly what will happen if you angle your phone upwards. Your face can often be obscured by shadows when angling your phone this way too. You want your phone to be in line with your face, not far above and definitely not below.
When you are in the dark, use Snapchat.

Whether you're in the club or spending a night out on the town, sometimes you're going to be in the dark. Use Snapchat to get a perfect selfie in the dark. Snapchat has a flash on the front facing camera, while regular cameras usually doesn't. Click on the lightening bolt, take your picture and you're left with a picture that you can actually see your face in!
Opt for a classic smile over making a weird face.

While the duck face may have had its time in the spotlight, it's not so popular anymore. Go for a classic smile. If you want more of a candid pout, say "Yes" to yourself or inhale right before you snap the pic to get a more natural pout. Whatever expression you choose, it will look better when it's natural, instead of overdone and rehearsed.
Keep your arms out of the frame.

Back in the MySpace days a good selfie meant getting your whole upper body in the frame. Those selfies are long gone and should be left with MySpace. To make sure you're getting a good selfie, extend your arm about 90 degrees so it is parallel with the ground then bend at the elbow a little and selfie away!
Look over the whole picture before posting it.

Before posting a picture, look over it completely. There may be some unwanted things on your bathroom floor, a clothing mishap or an unflattering situation in the background. Look over the picture to make sure nothing in the background will attract more attention than your perfect selfie.
Be discrete about taking your selfies.

We've probably all been caught at least once taking a selfie. And it can be downright embarrassing to say the least. Before taking a selfie, make sure you really are alone or with people who don't mind. You don't want anyone interrupting your photoshoot now, do you?
Choose one selfie at a time, instead of posting all 30 you took.

It may take you thirty tries to get a good selfie, but that doesn't mean you need to post all of them. One or two selfies a day is enough. Keep all your gorgeous pictures to yourself and only show off one every once in a while.
Use a filter.

There's no shame in editing your selfies before posting them! Everyone does it. Except for, well, those people who take too much pride in posting #nofilter. There are many filters on Instagram or you can use other apps like Facetune to create the perfect selfie.
But don’t overdo it and use too many filters.

It's easy to get a little carried away when it comes to editing your selfies. But the more you edit a picture, the faker it looks. Instead, use a light touch when editing. Only touch up areas in the picture that need to be touched up. Overdoing it will just make you look like you are trying too hard. You can also reduce the severity of an Instagram filter by clicking on it and sliding the bar.
Check your background and clean up a little bit if you need to.

We all love taking bathroom or bedroom selfies, but sometimes our mess gets in the way. Make sure there is nothing embarrassing within view.
Use a timer when snapping a selfie.

We've all been there. Your friend goes to take a selfie of your two and if you're taller, you get cut out. To make sure this never happens again, set a timer on your phone. Choose between a three second and ten second timer, lean your phone somewhere safe and run to get in the selfie!
If you’re trying to get a friend in on your selfie, make sure they actually want to.

In today's society, people tend snap pictures left and right before really living in the moment. People exclaim "Let's take a selfie!" so often they might just be the most used words. Okay, that might be a stretch, but before you go taking a selfie with someone, make sure you give them ample time to get ready for the picture.
Keep you selfie album to yourself.

While you may want to share all the selfies you took with your friends, they might not be as interested in them as you are. Your friends could be more critical of all your selfies than you might ever believe. Just keep the selfie posting to a minimum.
Clean your mirror.

Mirror shots are a classic selfie spot. To make sure you get a flawless selfie every time, clean your selfie mirror before shooting any pictures. No one wants to see your dirty mirror when they're liking your picture on Instagram. No amount of filters can clean a dirty mirror.
