A mom from North Carolina reportedly discharged a firearm multiple times to break up a fight at a school fair. Authorities promptly arrested her.

According to a report by WBTV, the incident happened on Saturday at an event in Charlotte, North Carolina, at around 1:10 PM. The outlet cites court records stating that 34-year-old Cherez Davis admitted to firing two shots into the air. She discharged her weapon after an argument escalated between her son and another boy. Davis reportedly told police she shot after another adult intervened. She allegedly pulled a Taurus G6 from her backpack, fired two shots, put the weapon back, and walked away.

WBTV explains that police noted a crowd of 100 people scattered after they heard shots fired. Authorities reported no injuries and collected the firearm as evidence.

Event Organizers Released A Statement After The School Incident

The shooting took place at the 11th annual Back-to-School Health Fair at the C.W. Williams Community Health Center. The venue shared a statement with WBTV. They urged readers not to allow the incident to “detract or distract” from everything accomplished at the event. “That one moment when a woman fired 3 shots in the air was an isolated incident that occurred toward the end of the event. We are saddened that our community, vendors, and team members experienced this, but are so thankful that no one was harmed!” the statement reads.

According to a report by the New York Post, members of the Charlotte Metropolitan Police Department attended the event. However, they had left before Davis fired her weapon.

Per a report by People, authorities arrested Davis on Saturday. They charged her with “carrying a concealed weapon and going armed to the terror of people.” Police released her on a $50,000 bond, and she is due in court on December 9.

Last month, a McDonald’s manager shot an Illinois mom after she came to the store and attacked her. A news release by the Belleville Police Department explains that the manager asked an employee to take out the trash. When they refused, the manager told them to go home instead. The employee allegedly called her mom, who showed up with a juvenile female.

The mom reportedly battered the manager in her office. She responded by shooting her in the leg. Authorities charged the manager with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. They charged the mom with Aggravated Battery and Mob Action.
