A Canadian influencer couple based in British Columbia has reportedly died in an off-roading accident. They shared travel and vehicle-related content on YouTube together and garnered an audience of hundreds of thousands.
Stacey Tourout and Matthew Yeomans ran the successful Toyota World Runners YouTube channel. The pair documented various road trips across British Columbia, and frequently ventured even further. They also posted car upgrade videos and ran a blog and merch website. According to a report by the Canadian Broadcasting Commission (CBC), the couple died in an accident in the British Columbia interior on August 7.
Colleen Tourout, Stacey’s mother, confirmed the tragic news on Facebook. “With unimaginable heartache, the families of Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout would like to advise that we lost them both tragically succumbing to injuries in an offroad accident on Aug 7, 2025 in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much,” her post reads. “They are together forever as we knew they would always be,” she added.
A Search And Rescue Team Tried To Help The Couple At The Scene
Kaslo Search and Rescue confirmed they were at the scene in an interview with CBC. Mark Jennings-Bates, a manager, explained that rescuers were called to an off-road motor vehicle incident at around 6:30 PM. “It was on a forestry road, somewhere in the mountains, and quite a long ways north in the valley up towards the village of Trout Lake,” he told the outlet.
Jennings-Bates told CBC he was among the first people at the crash site. He found one person inside the vehicle with no vital signs. The other was away from the crashed vehicle, “disoriented and suffering from serious injuries.” Jennings-Bates revealed that rescuers stabilized her and transported her to a local hospital, but she died later that evening.
The manager explained that he was unsure if the couple was filming at the time. Officials believe they lost control of the vehicle on rough terrain. He also told CBC that the rescue attempt was challenging because the couple’s vehicle had fallen 200 meters down a rock field. Rescuers believe the car rolled over many times before reaching the bottom.
Another vehicle was reportedly traveling with the couple, which provided Kaslo Search and Rescue with an accurate location.
Last week, the couple uploaded their final post to Instagram. They posted several pictures with the description, “Really just soaking up all of these Vancouver Island summer juices. Our first summer in a few years where we get to experience the seasons change and the joy the sun brings us soggy rainforest dogs as we come out of hiding.”
