A Polish van driver miraculously escaped unharmed after a train smashed into his vehicle, tearing it in half. The incident went viral on social media after people posted CCTV footage of the train tracks.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the crash occurred last month on July 13 in the Polish village of Wola Filipowska. Footage of the incident did the rounds on Reddit and X, with many people weighing in on the event.
Horrifying footage shared by @TaraBull808 shows what happened leading up to the crash. The van driver is moving over a railway crossing. The barriers are already closing, but the driver appears to try to make it across anyway. Unfortunately for the motorist, the barriers slowly close in front of him, so he can’t join the road.
Panicked, the driver attempts to turn his van sideways, parallel with the train track. They try a multi-point turn, but only manage to get the vehicle’s front half out of harm’s way. The oncoming train cannot stop, and the driver blares his horn as it collides with the back of the truck.
The force of the impact is so strong that it rips a chunk out of the back of van. What’s left is flung across the tracks, destroying the barriers in the process.

The Daily Mail reports that the van driver escaped unharmed. The train driver and passengers also suffered no injuries. The outlet cites Polish platform, Fakt, which reportedly says the prosecutors’ office is investigating the incident and the events that led to the crash.
Comments on the X video don’t hold back, with many wondering why they didn’t at least try to break through the barriers. One user wrote, “This guy is the reason there are warning labels on Shampoo Bottles…” Another typed, “Oh no, the gate is down! I guess I’ll just die.”
One commenter pointed out that the barriers are bendy for a reason. “Those arms are designed to be flexible. You might have to pay for them, but that is better than losing your van.” Others point out the driver’s stupidity, suggesting they should be banned from driving for life.
