People go viral on social media for the strangest reasons, but few will top getting chased by a pig while swimming in the sea in Greece.
Aleks runs the @aleks_jevtic TikTok channel. She posts a wide range of topics, including fitness and makeup tutorials. Last week, Aleks posted a video titled “She was cute from a distance.” The clip exploded online, garnering a whopping 5 million views.
The short video has a caption that reads, “Getting chased by a pig in the middle of Greece hits different.” Aleks and another woman are swimming by a boat where the footage is recorded from. You can see a pig swimming in the background, which effortlessly manages to keep up with the pair. They are never in any real danger, but the influencers are clearly surprised to find a four-legged friend in the water with them.
The video appears to have autogenerated subtitles. The system captures onlookers saying, “You have to go out it’s not safe out here.”
Commenters Chime In On The Unusual Pig Encounter
The video quickly amassed over 1000 responses, with many commenting on how strange the encounter was. One reply with over 50K likes reads, “The chances of u getting chased by a swimming pig is slim BUT NOT ZERO 😂😂😂.” Another jokes, “Disappointed with the comments. Was expecting at least one Greek girl saying “oh, that’s my ex.” There have been multiple since that message was posted.
One more poster says, “Pig Shark…underrated species….over 100 deaths so far of people drowning while swimming and laughing…beware.” Aleks later posted another video from the beach where she chilled out with more pigs and piglets on the shore.
Last month, another strange animal encounter made headlines, albeit for different reasons. Goose is an illegally owned water monitor and managed to flee from its home in Massachusetts. Webster Animal Control first posted about the escape artist on July 18, and he’s managed to give authorities the slip ever since. Witnesses spotted Goose in Douglas on July 30, but he was gone by the time the police showed up.
Authorities stress that water monitors aren’t known for attacking humans. Still, they advise residents to stay away and notify the police if they spot him.
