Disneyland has a surprisingly strict dress code, and while some of the guidelines are common sense, others are more specific. One TikTok video summarizes the dos and don’ts perfectly and went viral on the platform earlier this month.
Sophie Smith runs the @sophiesm1th_ TikTok page. The UK woman specializes in travel content, but with a real focus on Disney parks. Earlier this month, she posted a video with the caption, “Here’s 5 things you cannot wear to Disneyland Paris. All from Disney’s official rules!”
Sophie opens her video with arguably the most well-known Disney park rule: No costumes. “Costumes are only allowed for guests 12 and under,” Sophie explains. She notes that Disneyland isn’t a cosplay convention and officials want kids to “believe in real Disney-trained characters.”
Next, Sophie says that clothing that drags on the ground is also prohibited. “It’s a safety risk on rides and totally impractical in a packed park,” she clarifies.
Sophie’s next point has been the subject of several viral videos on the platform, but it’s to wear proper clothing. It’s a broad term, but the TikTok influencer clarifies “No, you can’t walk around in a bikini, even if it’s hot.” On that note, shoes are also mandatory in the parks.
Disneyland Enforces Rules Against Offensive Clothing
For number four, Sophie points out another obvious rule for a family-friendly place: Don’t wear anything offensive. “Clothing at Disneyland Paris isn’t allowed to shock, scare, or cause offense,” she explains. This means t-shirts with particular slogans or anything revealing are prohibited.
Finally, the video announces that you must cover up inappropriate tattoos if you have them. Many comments on the video ask oddly specific dress code questions, but most are grateful for the info. One popular comment jokes, “Planning my Disney outfits? Haha. The only thing I’m worried about is wearing comfy shoes. 🤣”
Earlier this month, a mom went viral on TikTok for bringing up the costume rule. Phoebe Parsons took to the platform when she discovered guests over 14 cannot attend Disney on Ice in costume. The comments section quickly highlighted the long-standing rules and why they exist, even if some users were less than kind about it.
