Authorities arrested a man from California for allegedly sniffing women’s butts at a department store. Officers tracked him with surveillance cameras and caught him in the act.
The City of Burbank revealed details of the bizarre crime, which occurred on July 22. Burbank officers arrived at the scene after receiving a call about a suspicious individual. The suspect was reportedly “loitering in the women’s department of Nordstrom Rack, located at 1601 North Victory Place.”
The news release explains that the suspect had already left the store by the time they arrived. However, a search of the local area led them to the Walmart on 1301 North Victory Place. They found their man, 38-year-old Calese Carron Crowder, from Glendale inside. Authorities say officers monitored Crowder as he moved through various departments. They then spotted him “following a female customer, crouching near her, and engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks.”
Officers promptly detained the suspect following the incident.
The California Man Was On Active Parole
The Burbank Police Department disclosed that Crowder is a registered sex offender and was on active parole. He has similar crimes on his rap sheet for lewd conduct dating back to 2021. The Burbank City Attorney’s Office has reportedly filed one count of loitering with intent to commit a crime against Crowder.
The suspect is due in court on August 1 with bail set at $100,000. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as an investigation remains ongoing.
Another strange crime made headlines this month outside a California convenience store. Officers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to calls about a grisly discovery of possible human remains. Concerned bystanders found what they believed to be a teddy bear made of human skin outside a gas station in Victorville.
Authorities promptly cordoned off the area with yellow tape, and the coroner’s office seized the bear. On closer inspection, they quickly realized that the grim teddy was made entirely of regular materials. A man called Robert Kelly, who runs Dark Seed Creations, claimed responsibility for making the bear. He also revealed he had recently sent an item to Victorville via his Etsy shop.
Police reportedly arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of leaving the bear on purpose.
