Peppa Pig is one of the most well-known kids’ show characters, a status she has held since she first aired in the UK in 2004. You’d expect the episodes to be suitable for everyone, but one mom took to social media to explain why Peppa is now banned in her house.
Kelly Arvan runs the TikTok channel, @kellyarvan, and posts lifestyle and beauty videos. She also shares family content. One of her TikToks went viral this month, with over 800k views, as she explained why the cartoon pig is no longer welcome.
Kelly says she previously disregarded other parents’ concerns when they told her Peppa Pig could be rude.
However, the mom noticed her young son started saying one particular phrase and wondered where he had heard it. Kelly revealed, “Maybe, like, a month ago, he started going around to everyone saying ‘You’re not my best friend.'”
She explains that he started saying it quite often and that it was an unkind thing to tell people.
The Mom Told Her Son To Stop Saying The Peppa Pig Line
Kelly reveals that she told he son to stop saying “You’re not my best friend”, and he did. She ultimately discovered where the toddler heard it from when she saw Peppa Pig say it to someone on the show. Kelly has since banned the series from the house.
The mom also says that she is shocked after seeing the “behavioral pickups.” She tells her audience that she’s wondered where her son is learning certain habits. Kelly leans toward the camera and says, “It’s bloody Peppa Pig.”
The TikTok video has garnered some mixed responses, although most side with Kelly. One commenter revealed that they had done the same with Bluey, although another, with over 4000 likes, read, “Bluey would never.” A concerned user replied, “They hide things in kids’ shows.”
One parent shared that their youngster recently started spitting, and they had no idea where they learned it. “It was Minions,” they said. Several other commenters blast the show. One claims Peppa “takes digs at her dad” for being overweight. Other users thank Kelly for the video, suggesting their kids watch Peppa Pig and have also picked up undesirable phrases.
