A paranormal investigator has died after touring with a famous doll that is allegedly possessed.
According to a report by the Evening Sun, 54-year-old Dan Rivera was the lead investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research. He passed away on Sunday. Rivera was reportedly leading the “Devils on the Run Tour” across the country and was in Gettysburg at the time. They also brought Annabelle, an allegedly possessed doll, on the tour. Horror buffs will immediately recognize the name from the Conjuring movies.
The outlet explains that Adams County dispatch scanner shows that somebody called emergency services to a Gettysburg hotel at around 8 PM Sunday. They report staff administering CPR to an individual matching Rivera’s age. A corner confirmed to the Evening Sun that colleagues found the paranormal investigator alone in his hotel room.
Authorities Say They Are Not Treating The Paranormal Investigator’s Death As Suspicious
Trooper Megan Frazer shared a press release from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) on X. It states, “Members from PSP, Gettysburg, responded to a hotel in Straban Township, Adams County for a report of a deceased W/H/M. The decedent was discovered in his room by coworkers, nothing unusual or suspicious was observed at the scene. The case is pending autopsy results.
The Evening Sun states that Lorraine Warren, a famous paranormal investigator, mentored Rivera. The New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR) has shared a press release on their social media channels. “With heavy hearts, we share the sudden and heartbreaking loss of our dear friend and colleague, Dan Rivera,” the post reads. “The NESPR is devastated by his passing and is still coming to terms with this profound loss. Dan was not only a vital part of our team for over a decade. But also a deeply compassionate, loyal, and dedicated friend.”
The release reveals that Rivera was a US Army veteran and worked closely with Lorraine Warren, even as her health declined. The NESPR admits they are unsure about the future without Dan. However, they plan to move ahead with all scheduled events for the rest of the year. The Gettysburg leg of the tour reportedly sold out, selling over 1200 tickets across three days of events.
