Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour is in full swing and has already seen its fair share of drama, even if incidents have been out of the singer’s control.
The latest event to affect the tour occurred on Monday night, per the New York Post. A screaming train passenger reportedly triggered a stampede after the evening show. Atlanta News First shared horrifying footage of emergency services wheeling people away on stretchers after a stampede broke out at the MARTA station next to the Mercedes-Benz stadium. The Texas Hold’ Em singer was performing at the venue earlier in the night.
The outlet reveals that several concertgoers left the scene in ambulances. Authorities have not released many details about what happened. However, a witness told reporters that there was a lot of commotion at the station. They allegedly saw crowds of people who fell down the escalators. MARTA reportedly posted about a disruption at the station, citing a medical emergency.
Witnesses Describe The Stampede As Like A Group Being “Smashed Together”
A report by FOX 5 sheds more light on the incident. Citing MARTA officials, the outlet explains that an escalator abruptly “lurched forward” and stopped. One person who claims they were on the escalator described suddenly having multiple people on top of them. They said it was like a group being smashed together.
Other witnesses told FOX 5 that the escalator appeared to collapse under the weight of so many people. One person reportedly screamed and started running, which had a knock-on effect on others at the crowded station. MARTA officials say that the stampede injured nine people. The outlet claims that seven of those required hospital treatment, and one suffered a broken ankle. Jacobi Edwards, a high school student, told FOX 5, “It just created a whole entire slide full of people. It just started tumbling. People just tumbling on each other. It was crazy, it was chaotic.”
On Tuesday last week, Thieves stole unreleased Beyoncé tracks and other information from her choreographer’s car. Police explain that the theft occurred in an Atlanta car park at 44 Krog St. Authorities say they captured footage of the incident on security cameras, and an investigation is ongoing.
