Thieves reportedly stole hard drives containing sensitive information, including unreleased music by Beyoncé, from a vehicle in Atlanta last week.
According to a report by CNN, multiple items were stolen from a rental car driven by the ‘Texas Hold’ Em’ stars’ choreographer. The theft occurred on July 8 during Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour. CNN shared audio from the 911 call the choreographer, Christopher Grant, made. He told the operator, “Someone broke into my car. They have my computer, and it’s really, really important information in there. Like, I work with someone who is like, of a high status.”
The outlet explains that Grant called the authorities when he realized the car had been burglarized in a parking lot. Thieves stole a pair of laptops alongside the hard drives. The drives reportedly contained “watermarked music, footage plans for the show, and past and future set lists.” Several other belongings were also pinched from the rented Jeep Wagoneer. Two suitcases belonging to Grant and one of Beyoncé’s backup dancers are missing. Grant allegedly reported that $1000 worth of clothing and various accessories, including $500 Tom Ford sunglasses, had been stolen.
Police Say Surveillance Cameras Caught The Music Theft
The outlet explains that authorities caught the theft on camera. Authorities have released an arrest warrant for the unnamed individual. A news release by the Atlanta Police Department confirms the rental car was parked “inside a parking deck at 44 Krog St.” Authorities explain that the suspect’s identity is not available for release, nor is the surveillance footage. The police also say that an investigation is ongoing and are refusing all interviews regarding the incident.
Per AP News, car thefts are unfortunately common in Atlanta. Thieves typically target parked cars with luggage and belongings on display. The outlet reveals that there were 7,195 reported thefts from vehicles in Atlanta last year. Since January 2025, there have already been 3,125.
The Atlanta Police Department also cautioned unsuspecting car owners in their news release. “We know quick stops can turn into costly mistakes. It only takes seconds for a thief to spot valuables and break in,” they said. “Take your bags, phone, and anything important with you every time you leave your car. Don’t give criminals an easy win.”
