Police in Arizona arrested a GrubHub driver while he was out delivering a pizza. Rather than let the precious cargo go to waste, law enforcement decided to take the pizza to its destination themselves.
The Tempe Police Department shared a bodycam video of the delivery, explaining that they arrested the original driver during a traffic stop. “Our officers made sure the pizza still got to the customer,” the post reads. “The order was Hot-N-Ready, and the suspect was Caught-N-Steady,” it concludes.
It’s unclear why the delivery driver was arrested, but the Tempe Police Department shared footage of officers detaining him. They discovered the pizza in the car, and the sat nav on the driver’s phone showed where it was going. The officers turned up at the customer’s door, much to her shock. They explained, “So, your GrubHub guy got arrested. We’ll still deliver your pizza.” The bewildered woman replies, “I really appreciate the pizza.” She looks lost for words, so another says, “It should still be warm.” They exchange pleasantries before the police leave.
Commenters Appreciate The Strange Police Video
Many commenters on X appreciate the video, even if others believe it was a waste of time and money. One user wrote, “What a classy act. Well done and stay safe. Thank you for all you do.” Another replied with a GIF of Martin Lawrence pretending to be a pizza deliveryman in the classic action comedy Blue Streak. One joked, “To protect and serve pizza.”
Last month, a DoorDash driver was asked to deliver a single sachet of BBQ sauce in the middle of the night. The odd request came from Miranda Knowles in British Columbia, who claims to have placed the order while sleepwalking. She only discovered she had ordered something when she spotted a bill for $8 on her phone.
The woman shared ring cam footage of the delivery driver showing up, but admitted she didn’t realize she had received anything initially. Knowles later explained that she has suffered from sleepwalking since she was a child, and it’s not the first time she’s ordered from DoorDash without realizing. “I do like A&W honey mustard, but I’m not sure why I would order it alone!” she joked.
