A couple were allegedly competing together in the Hyrox fitness competition in Sydney over the weekend. However, one man’s behavior raised eyebrows as he appeared to continue competing instead of staying with his partner when she fell ill.
The incident went viral on TikTok, and footage was shared on the platform by @aaronboundy.
At the start of the video, Aaron explains, “That guy’s missus just fainted, and like full hit the deck, she’s unresponsive. And he just kept doing the wall ball and crossed the finish line by himself. He just left her there.” He adds, “What a piece of ****”
Later in the video, Aaron recaps what happened when he’s out of the competition hall. “I think I just witnessed one of the worst things in my life,” he claims. “Some guy’s missus started falling and fainting at the wall balls. And I told one of the judges, ‘Oh, can you help her?'”
Aaron says that the event staff eventually helped the woman after she fainted and hit the ground. “Her boyfriend kept doing wall balls, didn’t go over and see her,” he claims.
Paramedics Cleared An Area Around The Woman At The Fitness Event
Paramedics allegedly cleared an area around the woman and put barricades up. Aaron then details what the boyfriend did next. “The boyfriend walks over. Taps her on the leg. And then looks at the judge and goes ‘Do I need her to finish the race?'” The judges were reportedly taken aback, but replied “technically no.” He then allegedly finished the race without his partner and didn’t immediately return to check on her. Aaron finishes his video by saying, “That has boiled me. If you’re the person in that video, you’re a ******* piece of ****.”
The comments section for the video, which has been viewed almost 2 million times, is full of replies blasting the boyfriend’s behavior. One user alleges they were a judge on Sunday. “Let me tell you. Some people’s true colors come out under pressure. Hoping she’s ok,” they said. Another popular comment reads, “Jheez. No context required for this one – if you sign up to do team sports, you agree to compete as one. Whether that’s your better half or just a mate, you start together and finish together.”
Aaron also replied to his own video, admitting he wished he had said something at the time. “I was lost for words,” he conceded.
