Content creation is a volatile hobby or career where you must sometimes push the boundaries to stay relevant. But at what cost? One TikTok creator may have lost his girlfriend after she failed to see the funny side of his prank.
The now-ex-girlfriend shared her story on Reddit, explaining that her former boyfriend has a TikTok channel with a sizeable following of over 100,000.
She claims he specializes in ‘prank’ style content, but one of his jokes went too far. She also explains that she wasn’t aware of his TikTok channel until they started dating. The 21-year-old woman reveals that she is scared of spiders. It’s not uncommon to be uneasy around them, but she claims they can even trigger panic attacks for her.
The poster alleges that her ex rigged their toilet for one of his videos. He hid cameras and concealed a large, toy spider under the seat. The woman claims that when she went to the bathroom and spotted the spider, she screamed and ran out of the room. Her reaction was so severe that she allegedly slipped and sprained her ankle. The poster explains her ex-boyfriend “just walked in laughing.”
The Woman Requested Medical Assistance
The sprain was so bad that the woman explained she had requested to go to a clinic. The boyfriend eventually took her “after some convincing.” Following the incident, he allegedly posted the footage on his TikTok against her wishes. The poster did not provide a link to the video, but says it’s still live despite her reporting it. She claims she dumped the prankster and gave him two months to leave, but her family insists she’s overreacting. Now the woman is doubting herself, although she says her ankle still hurts.
At the time of writing, the post has over 600 replies on Reddit, which almost unanimously supported the poster’s decision. The top-voted comment, with over 6000 likes, jokes, “Should have brought it (his stuff) to Goodwill and then send him a text.” Another says in agreement, “Yeah then tell him it’s a prank.”
Many other comments also point out that a prank is only fine if both parties find it funny. One adds, “You can goof around with your partner without being mean.” Another popular reply says that a camera in the bathroom is grounds to get the police involved and completely disrespects any boundaries.
