Most Disney establishments have a page of rules and regulations you usually won’t know about until you consult their website. One mom took to social media after discovering a Disney on Ice rule she disagreed with, which drew mixed responses.
Phoebe Parsons has a TikTok profile, @phoebeparsons__, where she posts a range of content, including fitness videos. She recently put Disney on blast with a clip captioned, “Disney on ice… You have some explaining to do.”
In the video, Phoebe points out a rule she found, which states that guests under 14 years old cannot attend in costume. She says, “Are you telling me, as a 35-year-old Disney enthusiast who is accompanying a 4-year-old child to Disney on Ice is not allowed to dress up?” Phoebe asks, “Do you know how little we have to be excited about and look forward to, and you’re telling me that I cannot come dressed as a ******* princess? Sorry.”
Most Commenters Support The Disney on Ice Rules
Commenters famously don’t hold back on social media, and many wasted no time leaping to Disney’s defense. Several users believe the restriction is actually for safety. One user explains, “Its a safety rule. So children don’t walk off with strangers dressed as princess’s. You can still have fun but it important to keep children safe from people who might want hurt them.”
Others point out that some use “Disneybounding” to get around restrictions. Per Shoreline Destinations, guests use the term when they dress in a Disney character’s theme without replicating it. Several users explain that the rule is common knowledge and has existed for years. One comment, with hundreds of likes, is far more blunt and reads, “Disney adults need to get a ******* grip.”
Dress code rules aren’t just for show in Disney parks, and staff actively enforce them. Last month, one woman claimed that staff demanded she purchase a t-shirt to cover up after they spotted her wearing a sports bra and leggings. She said, “I didn’t realize I was improperly dressed.” They also alleged that staff made her buy a $45 t-shirt or she couldn’t go on a ride she queued for.
