Authorities have made two arrests in connection with the death of a TikTok influencer. He died last month.
18-year-old Chrystofer A. Whyte was shot on a beach in Long Branch, New Jersey. Per a report by People, he filmed a video at the same beach just hours before he died.
According to a press release by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, authorities are holding an adult male and a juvenile in connection with the shooting. Authorities say their victim, a “North Brunswick man,” was shot at Pier Village.
Owing to his age, police have not revealed the identity of the juvenile suspect. However, they explain that he is held at a juvenile detention center and faces a string of offences. Complaints reportedly include Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and Hindering.”
The adult suspect is 18-year-old Dwayne Exilus from Woodbridge. Authorities are charging him with second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, third-degree Hindering, and one count of fourth-degree Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. The press release confirms the weapon is a handgun.
The Prosecutor’s Office explains that officers responded to reports of a shooting on June 12 just before 9 PM. When officers arrived, they found Whyte with a single gunshot wound. Authorities declared the 18-year-old dead at the scene. While there are two suspects in custody, the release stresses that the investigation is ongoing, and the defendants are presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Influencer Was At The Same Beach During His Final Post
A report by People points out that Whyte was at the Long Branch beach when he recorded his final video. He posted a short clip to his channel, @hi.imchrys, while sitting on a deckchair.
He pans the camera so viewers can see behind him, and there are dozens of people enjoying themselves. In his previous post, Whyte is sitting on a chair in a house with the caption, “Stay away from ppl who ignore you until they need you.”
