16 & Pregnant Star Whitney Purvis mourned her son’s passing earlier this month. She recently took to social media, saying she believes Weston’s death could have been prevented.
In a lengthy post on Facebook, Purvis writes, “Tell me if this makes sense. My son had diabetes, Addison’s disease, and alpha one anti-trypsin deficiency, and he had no medical insurance, but he had a life insurance policy taken out on him. His dad bought five cars in the last six months but couldn’t pay for medical insurance.”
Purvis bashes Weston’s father, accusing him of bragging about how much money he has. She also blasts him for starting a GoFundMe for burial costs considering he was cremated because “it was the cheapest, plus he had the life insurance policy.”
Weston’s mother continues, “His death could’ve been prevented. He should have had a Dexcom/glucose monitor that alerted when his sugar was going up or down to a dangerous level.”
Purvis Was Allegedly Denied Access To Her Son’s Funeral
Purvis also alleges staff at the funeral home would not let her into Weston’s service, an incident she also addressed in a separate post. In that message, she clarifies, “If you don’t know we have a horrible relationship, no matter how hard I’ve tried to get along he has always refused and will always do his best to make sure I suffer.” She explains she wasn’t on the guest list, nor were her friends or family. Purvis also suggests that the staff told her she was two hours late to the service. “Who would come 2 hrs late. I was told four! Why would I tell everyone to come at 4? The truth is he didn’t want me there or my family and friends,” she said.
On June 2, Purvis broke the news about her son’s passing in a heartbreaking Facebook post. She asked, “This is really my worst nightmare come true. How do you go on in life after losing a child?”
According to a report by TMZ, Purvis lost custody of Weston and her other son, River, after leaving the show. She was allegedly arrested in 2024 for failing to make child support payments.
